CPA Updates

Hello Tribal Child Placing Agency (CPA) partners,

Join Our Monthly CPA Drop-In Sessions

Beginning in September, the Foster Care Negotiated Rule Making (NRM) and Licensing Teams will host drop‑in sessions on the second Wednesday of each month from 10–11 a.m. Sessions will be held in September, October, December, and January 2027.

These sessions will provide ongoing support as we move toward launching the updated foster care licensing rules. Each session will offer space to:

  • Ask questions.
  • Receive transition updates — hear the latest information on timelines, milestones, and rollout activities.
  • Learn about changes to WAC 110‑148‑1520 — understand key updates and how they affect licensing practices.
  • Prepare for the upcoming rule launch — get guidance on steps agencies and licensors can take now to get ready.

The first session will be held on Sept. 9. A Microsoft Teams invite will be sent in the next few days.

Mockingbird Hub Homes

The MOCKINGBIRD FAMILY™ model brings together small groups of foster and kinship families called “Satellite Homes” around one experienced “Hub Home.” Families can offer support, help each other during tough moments, celebrate together, and make sure children and youth have stable and familiar places to go.

Hub Homes are now located across the state, and a Mockingbird Hub Locations Map is available so CPA homes can see where they can join a Constellation. If you’re interested in learning more about the MOCKINGBIRD FAMILY Program or exploring how your agency’s homes could participate, contact Mockingbird Program Manager Angelia Etter at angelia.etter@dcyf.wa.gov.

Thank you,

Marissa Corrales
Sr. Administrator, Foster Care & Licensing Resources
