Hello Tribal Child Placing Agency (CPA) partners,
Foster Care (FC) Negotiated Rulemaking (NRM) Updates
DCYF Licensing Division (LD) accepted public comments on the proposed changes to the foster care licensing rules, Washington Administrative Code (WAC) Chapter 110-148, through May 5. During the NRM process, the public comment period was an opportunity to submit feedback on the proposed WAC language. 62 WAC out of 68 in Chapter 110-148 will move forward in the process and will be effective on January 4, 2027.
The six WACs below will go through another internal review and public comment period.
- 110-148-1305: One definition change
- 110-148-1375: Medication Management
- 110-148-1475: Removed 50 square feet
- 110-148-1500: Firearms in Home
- 110-148-1520: Removed the requirement to use pronouns
- 110-148-1605: Clarified Prudent Parenting
If significant feedback is received, there could be additional delays when these six WAC will take effect. Details on continued training and transition planning will be announced in the coming months.
