Foster Care WAC Updates (part of D.S. Settlement) 

Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) 

  • The FFPSA team is drafting a 5-Year Family First Prevention Plan for 2025 to 2029, which will further guide the implementation of prevention services focused on keeping families together and out of the child welfare system. 

  • To get an overview and help inform this plan, they are hosting in-person, regional collaborative forums open to anyone with a shared interested in these efforts. Register Today or sign up to be a volunteer.

Kinship Standards 

  • The Kinship Licensing Standards team received responses from a diverse group of caregivers on their first draft of the new Kinship WACs.
    • 75 people participated in the live sessions
      • 45% of the caregivers who participated identified as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC)
      • 27 of the attendees were Kinship Caregivers, another 20 were Child Placing Agency staff which included eight Tribal CPAs
    • More than 265 people completed the online survey
      • 23% self-identified as BIPOC
  • The team is revising and refining the proposed Kinship WAC, preparing for public review in Dec. 2024.
