LOVIT Way Program Evaluation Process

We are pleased to announce that coming this Spring, 2024, Early Achievers will be launching The LOVIT Way Program Evaluation Process (PEP)! The LOVIT Way PEP is a quality alternative program, that provides an optional evaluation pathway for Tribal early care and education programs, participating in Early Achievers. The LOVIT Way PEP, is an evaluation and planning tool, designed by the Aboriginal Head Start Association of British Columbia (AHSABC) to enhance Indigenous early childhood program delivery. The LOVIT Way PEP provides an approach to evaluation that is holistic, locally controlled, and respectful of local values, traditions, and practices.

A thorough review and pilot of the LOVIT program by an advisory committee that was guided by our DCYF Indian Policy Early Learning community was performed. This was important because the IPEL committee includes Washington State Tribal members. Early Achievers has adopted The LOVIT Way PEP and will support its use in interested Tribal programs. Tribal Nations have an inherent, sovereign right over the education of their young children. Early Achievers is committed to supporting Tribal Nations in implementing high-quality programming, and program evaluation.

Tribal programs that opt in to utilize The LOVIT Way PEP, will continue to engage in every aspect of Early Achievers continuous quality improvement. Once programs begin their quality recognition process, The LOVIT Way PEP replaces the Learning Environment standard area: Program Profile and Video Highlights.

Email invites for Tribal programs to participate in an informational webinar will be coming out soon.

DCYF Language Access Plan

The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is hosting a webinar series to gather feedback on the Draft Language Access Plan (LAP). A LAP represents the procedures, processes, and best practices to help DCYF promote language-based inclusion and enhance our capacity to serve families with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). During the webinar, DCYF's Language Access Services team will provide updates on the Language Access Plan.
