Teaching Strategies Update
Great news about the new IT2 (Birth through age 2) Interrater Reliability Certification (IRR). The IT2 IRR has been moved to Quorum®! Teaching Strategies has posted this news to The Hub and the Resource Center for IT2 users. Teachers can still complete any in-progress certifications in the “Develop” area prior to March 31, 2024, in advance of Interrater Reliability Certifications fully moving to Quorum. The Spanish certification is the remaining experience set to move in March. Teachers may need to clear their browser history for these new options to appear.
For more information here’s a new support article on this release, and here’s the Ready-Set-Go! video on how to complete IRR in Quorum.

Basics of Inclusion
*Highlighted course in the Quorum® eLearning Platform this month.
Duration: 3hr
According to the Division of Exceptional Children (DEC), “Inclusion is children of all abilities learning, playing, and working together.” While this sounds great, teachers and parents may wonder if inclusion is really the best choice for a child. Will the child with disabilities struggle and the child without disabilities fall behind? This course introduces learners to the value of inclusion, steps to creating an inclusive classroom, laws regarding inclusion of children with disabilities, benefits to everyone involved, and the importance of teamwork with families. Participants will create their own inclusion policy and will practice pre-admissions conversations with parents.
This is a self-paced course that is available anytime, anywhere-perfect for the busy teacher!
How to access Quorum®?
Staff assigned to an ECEAP classroom with a MyTeachingStrategies account have access to the Quorum® eLearning Platform through the "Develop" area on their dashboard.
Understanding Racism’s Impact on Child Development
Watch the recording of the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University’s recent webinar to hear from a panel of experts on the impact of racism on child development and lifelong health. They will discuss their latest research, explore how racism impacts children’s development and how it contributes to unequal access to opportunity in the places where children live, grow, play, and learn. Together, they explored ways to dismantle systemic barriers and work toward solutions that promote healthy child development. Watch here.
A Guide to Adaptions:
Learn how to adjust environments, materials, and instruction to support children who learn differently with this resource. The combination of text and illustrations will help educators learn how to individualize learning.
A Guide to Teaching Practices:
Teaching strategies are practices used by adults or by other children to help facilitate children’s participation in everyday routines and learning experiences. Using these strategies engages children in activities, maintains their interest, and provides opportunities for them to learn concepts and thinking skills. This resource introduces six practices (e.g., scaffolding), describes each practice, and shares examples of how the practice might be implemented in an EC setting.
