Colville couple happy to share their lessons with others | Unsung Heroes
Colville: “Dawn has elevated herself in the community as a housing specialist/trailer park manager where she has been trained in the state and federal regulations of the landlord/tenant parameters and uses this information to support other struggling families when they are faced with housing barriers or challenges. Mike has been supportive to fathers and boy family members to help them understand how they can be effective in their household and in the community and has gone so far as to help those who come to his front door, with a room to sleep in while they are seeking employment and discovering their independence while being good members of society by volunteering where needed.” Read Dawn and Mike's full story at Seattle’s Child.
All month in February, DCYF celebrated Parent Recognition Month with our Unsung Heroes. Stories of parents exhibiting Family Protective Factors will be published throughout the month on the DCYF Facebook Page and Seattle’s Child.

Innovate (News and New Insights)
Prevent Child Abuse America recognizes that all community members have a role in ensuring children have positive experiences and families have the resources they need when they need them, well before they are in crisis. The theme of this year’s awareness and impact campaign that we lead in partnership with our national network of state chapters, is “Building Together: Prevention in Partnership.” Child abuse and neglect are preventable, and all communities benefit when children and families are well supported. Watch the PSA in English or Spanish.
