Dear DCYF Staff,

As we shared a few weeks ago, DCYF's Thriving Families initiative focuses on improving outcomes for families by strengthening our practice, so children and youth remain safely at home or with kin in their communities. We'd like to introduce a foundational part of the initiative, the design, and implementation of the Family Practice Model (FPM) framework, which will help us support families and staff.

Family Practice Model

A Practice Model is a framework that organizes the agency's practice around its mission and values.

DCYF's FPM framework will be used to:

  • Co-design strategies to support, prepare and provide resources to staff
  • Apply agency values to core case management practice skills
  • Align best practice standards with agency values for coaching and individual growth
  • Implement practice changes
  • Improve quality and intention of practice as outlined in DCYF's Strategic Priorities

Your voice matters:

The FPM design team is partnering with staff to develop Family Practice Profiles that will describe how staff will coordinate services, assess, and engage with families throughout the case. The FPM design team will also host drop-in sessions to explore strategies to support and prepare staff.
