Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and other healthcare providers will soon begin offering Omicron variant-targeted bivalent booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines to people ages 5 and older. This follows the guidance and recommendations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup. The new booster eligibility expansion follows last month’s rollout of the updated (bivalent) COVID-19 vaccine, which targets the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants that currently make up the majority of COVID-19 cases across the country.
To make a vaccine or booster appointment, visit VaccinateWA.org, or call the COVID-19 Information Hotline at 1-800-525-0127, then press #. Language assistance is available.
If you have additional questions, visit DOH’s COVID-19 Vaccine Frequently Asked Questions webpage or talk to your healthcare provider.

All DCYF employees are required to complete the Employee Annual Review Checklist by Friday, Oct. 28, 2022. The annual review checklist was assigned to all DCYF employees, in the Washington State Learning Center, on Sept. 1, 2022. The 2022 review must be completed via the Washington State Learning Center in an online module that captures employee-provided responses. Employees who join DCYF on or after Sept. 1, 2022, are not required to take this review as all applicable information is captured in their new hire paperwork and orientation.
We want to ensure that staff know the steps to access the Washington State Learning Center and what to do if they experience any launch issues. Please be sure to use Chrome as your web browser when launching the Washington State Learning Center, which is on the DCYF intranet under the Personnel tab, HR Training and Development page. To access the Employee Annual Review Checklist module, log into the Washington State Learning Center, locate the Self icon, expand the menu, click on Dashboards, and select My Experience Hub.
For questions related to the Washington State Learning Center, please contact the DCYF Learning Center.

Echo Glen Children’s Center recently received accreditation from the National Commission on Correction Health Care (NCCHC). Accreditation from NCCHC signifies that Echo Glen meets the nation’s premier standards on correctional health care.
This is the 30th year Echo Glen has received accreditation. Accreditation not only reflects exceptional teamwork and professionalism, it also helps facilities run more efficiently and signals a constitutionally acceptable level of care for a facility’s incarcerated population, which translates into better health, fewer health-related grievances and lawsuits, and reduced health risk to the wider community when released.
Congratulations and thank you, Echo Glen, for your commitment to quality health services and public safety!
