Updating and New:
In less than three months, WA CAP by Binti goes live for General Foster care licensing, Kinship licensing, Kinship Care, Certified Respite, and Expedited licensing. The WA CAP team, staff, and stakeholders are preparing for many changes. One change is the creation of new "forms" or the updating of others. Although you might call it a form, most of you will see it as a digital screen part of the new WA CAP portal.
How we got here:
The form changes result from work done over the past three years by stakeholders, Tribes, and internal staff. These changes improve processes, make the experience more equitable and user friendly and improve outcomes for children and families in the State of Washington. Binti's system structures also drove some changes in forms. DCYF and Binti continue to work together on bridging practice and the system.
What to expect:
- Updates to a few forms before WA CAP goes live
- New forms available on the DCYF website that support licensing process in WA CAP
- Communications/memos/meetings to help support the roll-out
- All forms will still be on the DCYF website and added or updated as each item goes live
- Excitement and some frustration while learning to navigate the changes
- Opportunity to provide feedback to WA CAP to make changes within six months
Why Now?
WA CAP team is in discussions with stakeholders and internal staff constantly. One request heard from multiple groups was to try to implement changes before the go-live date to make the transition easier in late November. We want to acknowledge everyone's effort in all these changes. Implementing before go-live will help soften the change fatigue and help complete this exciting project for our children and families.
Questions?
The WA CAP Team appreciates all the questions and comments from staff that have been submitted. Although not all of them may have been directly responded to, you can be assured that they are reviewed, considered, and retained. You are encouraged to keep sending in questions, comments, and, yes, even complaints.
