DCYF Early Childhood Equity Grant
The Fair Start for Kids Act, passed by the Washington State Legislature in 2021, directs DCYF to distribute funds to support inclusive and culturally and linguistically specific early learning and early childhood and parent support programs across the state. The funds are distributed through the Early Childhood Equity Grant. Early Childhood Equity Grants are intended to serve as a step toward expanding access to early learning statewide and transforming Washington's early learning system to make it more inclusive and equitable. Eligibility is open to: licensed or certified child care providers with an open license in good standing; license-exempt Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) providers serving children receiving state subsidies; ECEAP contractors; certified Play and Learn Groups. Clallam and Kitsap: Youth addressing stigma of substance use disorder funding. OCH is offering a funding opportunity, available on a rolling basis, for youth-led projects that meaningfully address and reduce the stigma of substance use disorder (SUD) in Clallam, Jefferson, and Kitsap counties, and the seven federally recognized tribes (Hoh, Jamestown S’Klallam, Lower Elwha Klallam, Makah, Port Gamble S’Klallam, Quileute, and Suquamish Tribes) in the Olympic region. Washington State Perinatal and Parenting with Substance Use Summit. This summit offers an in-person and virtual training and networking event for cross-agency/cross-sector professionals. The purpose of the summit is to provide education on substance use and how it impacts pregnancy, parents, and children. August 11, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Seattle Convention Center. Partner toolkit: 988 Lifeline transition. To help partners communicate about 988, SAMHSA has added downloadable print files for wallet cards, magnets, and posters to its 988 Partner Toolkit. The toolkit already includes logo and brand guidelines, key messages, frequently asked questions, fact sheets (English and Spanish), radio PSA scripts (English and Spanish), and more. SAMHSA is also working to make the print materials available for ordering from the SAMHSA store and will be adding social media shareables by mid-July about the basics of 988. Policies to Build and Sustain Economic Security and Wealth for Families and Communities of Color from Robert Woods Johnson Foundation. Through our Policies for Action program, we are seeking proposals to research policies with the potential to significantly improve the financial wellbeing and economic security of families and communities that have been systematically shoved to the margins, unable to enjoy a fair and just opportunity to be healthy. Up to $2.5 million is available for research that could enable communities and families of color to dream, invest in, and design an inclusive economy and build generational wealth. Washington State Broadband Office: Digital Navigator grant program. The Washington State Department of Commerce is soliciting proposals from firms interested in providing Digital Navigator services to their communities. Digital Navigators provide technical assistance and expertise in connectivity, internet-enabled devices, and the digital skills to use them. Digital Navigator services, devices, and subscriptions must involve one-on-one culturally literate assistance for people with limited access to services, including individuals seeking work, families supporting students, English language learners, people experiencing poverty, Tribal members, senior citizens, and Medicaid recipients. Desired deliverables include, but will not be limited to: A Digital Navigator hotline that community members can call during standard business hours for assistance or to schedule an appointment with a Digital Navigator; Ongoing digital literacy skills training, including technical skills and application support across a broad spectrum of devices, platforms, and applications; Assisting individuals and households with enrollment in the Affordable Connectivity Program. The WSBO anticipates awarding grants ranging between $200,000 and $500,000 per proposal. Proposals due 8/18. Learn more and apply.
