Washington Caregiver Application Portal (WA CAP)
Sprint Testing
The final round of Sprint Testing for the General Licensing application track occurred Nov. 9-16, 2021. The Washington Caregiver Application Portal by Binti (WA CAP) Core Team instructed participants to focus on persistent, known issues requiring an extra round of testing.
We had a total of 22 participants comprised of the WA CAP Core Team, Licensing Division (LD) Licensors, Supervisors, Administrators, Safety and Monitoring (SAM) Specialists, Administrative Staff, Workforce Development Staff, DCYF IT testers, Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence Staff, Child Placing Agency (CPA) Staff, and Tribal Partners.
What was different this round?
Instead of all testers starting at once, we identified a subset of participants to begin the process as external applicants to simulate the application and licensing process better.
- Some of those individuals initiated their applications in the portal themselves. Others started through intake by the WA CAP team.
Note: Intake is the term used in Binti when internal users create a new family.
The remaining participants began their testing assignments as internal workers – verifying documentation, training requirements (if applicable), and completing approvals.
- This design allows us to validate the application process from a prospective foster parent’s experience and those who will access the system as a worker.
The WA CAP core team facilitated daily virtual check-ins with all participants and Binti Account Managers to monitor testing progress and troubleshoot issues along the way.
- During check-ins, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues with Binti directly.
- Similarly, Binti obtained information from participants about their testing experience in real-time, responding to and addressing some cases immediately.
- Participants were also encouraged to utilize the Binti customer support and chat feature when appropriate.
What’s next?
- The WA CAP team will compile and review all tester feedback to finalize the General Foster Care License application track.
- The WA CAP team partners with CPAs and LD Regional Licensing staff and leadership to continue business mapping and technical work.
