What Does This Mean For You?

  • What is changing?
    • There are new roles outlined in WAC 110-301. At this time, the MERIT Workforce Registry does not have an option to update your role. DCYF is currently working on this and will notify you when it will be available.
  • How will MERIT record my education?
    • The education application will remain the same. All 100-level or higher college credit will be counted. If you have college coursework that is not yet recorded, please submit an education application.
    • For instructions on how to submit an education application, visit the MERIT webpage and click on the ‘Education Verification’ section.
  • If I have already submitted my education, do I need to resubmit it?
    • Education that is verified in the MERIT Workforce Registry does not need to be submitted again. Verified education is coursework that is level 100 or higher.
  • How will MERIT track my training?
    • Training will be recorded by DCYF recognized state-approved trainers. Providers may also submit a continuing education proposal for training that was completed out of state, at a conference, or with someone other than a state-approved trainer.
    • Site directors and program directors will need to complete 10 hours of leadership practice training every 36 months. MERIT will be updated in the future to make this tracking easier.
  • Where can I find more information?
    • DCYF is developing a new webpage focused on qualifications for school-age providers. This is where we’ll provide information about roles, education, and training. This page will be available soon and we will announce it via the PD Newsletter. Click here to subscribe.
    • You can also visit our School-Age providers webpage, which has frequently asked questions about the school-age rules.
