Child Care Providers Now Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccine

Dear Child Care Providers,

You are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

DCYF advocated for child care providers with partners at the state and federal level to ensure you were included in the priority queue and have access to vaccines. On March 2, 2021, President Joe Biden announced that he expects all K–12 school employees and child care providers to receive at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine before the end of March. I am pleased that Gov. Jay Inslee issued a statement to include child care workers and educators in Phase 1B-1 immediately.

You will receive a postcard from us, which can be shared with your vaccine provider as proof of eligibility. The best option to access vaccines for child care providers is through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, which operates through national pharmacies and independent pharmacy chains. You can also find a vaccine location here.

Vaccine inventory varies daily, so keep in mind timeslots fill quickly. The state’s allocation of vaccine has not significantly increased and progress is still being made to vaccinate all others eligible in Phase 1B, Tier 1. We urge you to remain patient, as vaccinations will be phased-in throughout the month.

If you have questions in the meantime, please contact the State COVID-19 Information Hotline at 1-800-525-0127 (press #) or call 1-888-856-5816 (a Spanish option is available).

Thank you for your continued commitment to the children and families in your care.

Sincerely,

Ross Hunter
Secretary
