Update on First Aid and CPR Training
Dear Foster Parents and Community Partners,
The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) Licensing Division recently learned that as of July 1, 2020, the Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence did not renew their sub-contract with Keep the Beat CPR & First Aid Training.
We apologize for the confusion and frustration this has caused for caregivers, staff, management and the community. This change impacts individuals renewing their foster license who are now required to pay a fee for the new certification.
New applicants are able to take First Aid/CPR and Bloodborne Pathogen trainings online. There is a proposal with the Alliance to have the same option for renewals. This will require a waiver for the in-person CPR, similar to the process for new applicants.
The Alliance hopes to have the online version for renewals available for caregivers the first week of August.
Please reach out to your DCYF licensor if you have questions.
