What to Expect with the Swift Blue Line in 2024
Community Transit’s Swift network has several exciting service updates to the Swift Blue Line.
The expansion will:
- Extend the Swift Blue Line to the upcoming Sound Transit Link light rail station at Shoreline North/185th (for more information about the Lynnwood Link light rail extension, click here)
- Improve bus connections and accessibility at Aurora Village Transit Center
- Update all stations along the Swift Blue Line
Extending to Link Light Rail
Pictured above: Swift Blue Line Extension map.
With the extension, Swift Blue Line riders will be able to connect to the Link light rail at the new Swift station at Shoreline North/185th station. Riders will find the Swift station on top of the parking garage at street level, providing easy access to the light rail platforms. The Swift Blue Line will travel to the light rail station from Aurora Village Transit Center along Meridian Avenue.
In the future, the City of Shoreline will add Business Access and Transit (BAT) lanes on N 185th St as part of its 185th Street Multimodal Corridor project. BAT lanes require all vehicles to turn right, except buses, allowing buses to travel faster while maintaining access to businesses. Once the city completes this project, Community Transit will modify the Swift Blue Line Extension to continue on Aurora Avenue and N. 185th Street. This will allow for a station at the Shoreline Park & Ride.
Upgraded Stations Along the Swift Blue Line
Riders will also see improvements at the existing stations along the Swift Blue Line. You’ll experience:
- Easier to read signage, including full-color LED signage and backlit station signage
- New audible announcements, improving accessibility for visually-impaired riders
- More station lighting to reduce glare and improve security
- New L-shaped windscreens to better protect you from bad weather
- New seating or leaning rails designed for comfort
- Security features at some stations, including cameras
