What is it like driving for Swift?

Community Transit Swift Coach Operator, Jason Lee

Expressing Thanks for Our Dedicated Swift Drivers

Community Transit’s bus rapid transit network currently includes the Swift Blue and Swift Green lines. We're thrilled to announce the upcoming expansion of Swift with the launch of Orange Line on March 30, 2024. As part of this exciting development, we’re hiring more bus drivers! Keep an eye out, as you might see some of your familiar dedicated Swift drivers operating the new Swift Orange Line route.

We spoke with one of Community Transit’s bus drivers about his experience driving the Swift Blue and Swift Green lines. After five years of driving for CT, Jason Lee (pictured here on a day off) has gained extensive experience on many routes but prefers driving Swift. “I love getting people where they need to go,” says Jason, recalling an experience where he helped someone catch the bus. One of Jason’s passengers was getting off to transfer to another route. When Jason noticed the passenger struggling to gather his belongings quickly, he used his radio to ask the other bus driver to wait a moment, then helped the passenger carry everything and be on his way.

Jason loves interacting with different people daily and tells us that the most rewarding part of the job is when people express their appreciation for him. He knows that buses are many people’s only mode of transportation, and says, “It’s cool that I get to be the one to help them.”

Community Transit echoes the appreciation from our riders, who rely on dedicated individuals to connect them to their destinations safely and seamlessly. The bus drivers play a vital role in getting you from where you are to where you want to be. We look forward to providing more service to the community with the Swift Orange Line in the spring.

About Swift Bus Rapid Transit

Community Transit is expanding its Swift bus rapid transit (BRT) network with additional lines connecting the area.

Swift Blue Line connects Everett to the Aurora Village Transit Center in Shoreline. This line will extend from the Aurora Village Transit Center to the Shoreline 185th Link light rail station when light rail opens.

Swift Green Line connects the Seaway Transit Center in Everett and Canyon Park Park & Ride in Bothell. This line will extend from Canyon Park Park & Ride to UW Bothell.

Swift Green line Extension will add up to six additional pairs of stations between Canyon Park, downtown Bothell, and UW Bothell/Cascadia College.

Swift Orange Line will connect south Snohomish County to the region’s high-capacity transit network when Sound Transit’s Link light rail extends to Lynnwood. Construction began in May 2022. Swift Orange Line service is scheduled to start in 2024.

Swift Gold Line will connect downtown Everett, downtown Marysville, and Arlington. We are in the early stages of planning the project. More details about the timeline and community engagement coming soon!

During construction, we will occasionally send out email updates to share updates about construction, upcoming traffic impacts, and more information about the projects. See more details at Community Transit Swift BRT.
