Community Transit strives to enhance transportation options for all riders. All Swift stations are ADA accessible, and Swift buses are accessible to wheelchairs, people with disabilities, strollers, carts, and bikes. Our buses are equipped with a ramp, as well as seats reserved for older adults and riders with disabilities.
We are excited to share some new accessibility upgrades coming to future Swift Orange Line stations:
-
Upgraded Tactile Paving
We are upgrading the tactile paving at each Swift Orange station. This ground paving is textured to assist riders who are vision impaired navigate bus platforms. The new paving panels will offer valuable guidance and directional cues, helping visually impaired passengers navigate through the station with confidence and ease.
-
New Signage
Our new digital signage will display real-time bus arrival information and share time-sensitive announcements. Riders will have easier access to information, supporting new riders who might not be familiar with our bus service.
Resources for riders with disabilities
Riders with disabilities can use a Regional Reduced Fare Permit (RRFP) to get discounted fares on regional transit services, including Community Transit buses, Sound Transit Link light rail and buses, Washington State Ferries, and more. Medicare card holders and people 65 and older can also get an RRFP. Riders must use an ORCA card to get the discounted fare. For low-income riders, we offer reduced fares through the ORCA LIFT Program, which allows riders to pay a reduced bus fare based on household income.
We also offer a free Travel Training Program for older adults, people with disabilities, English-language learners, or anyone else who may need extra help learning to ride the bus. With a Travel Trainer, riders learn how to plan a trip, find and board their bus, and more. Travel Trainers help riders find the right ride for them.

About Swift Bus Rapid Transit
Community Transit is expanding its Swift bus rapid transit (BRT) network with additional lines connecting the area.
Swift Blue Line connects Everett to the Aurora Village Transit Center in Shoreline. This line will extend from the Aurora Village Transit Center to the Shoreline 185th Link light rail station when light rail opens.
Swift Green Line connects the Seaway Transit Center in Everett and Canyon Park Park & Ride in Bothell. This line will extend from Canyon Park Park & Ride to UW Bothell.
Swift Orange Line will connect south Snohomish County to the region’s high-capacity transit network when Sound Transit’s Link light rail extends to Lynnwood. Construction began in May 2022. Swift Orange Line service is scheduled to start in 2024.
Swift Gold Line will connect downtown Everett, downtown Marysville, and Arlington. We are in the early stages of planning the project. More details about the timeline and community engagement coming soon!
During construction, we will occasionally send out email updates to share updates about construction, upcoming traffic impacts, and more information about the projects. See more details at Community Transit Swift BRT.
