Plan Ahead for Winter Weather
Last week, the region saw the first snowfall of the season! As a reminder, Community Transit has several resources available for transit riders to help them plan ahead for service changes due to road conditions. Service updates are provided on an hourly basis on our website.
During snow or extreme wet weather, crews may pause construction activities. As a reminder, all construction activities and schedules are weather-dependent.
Use BusFinder for real-time information on the next bus coming to your stop. Buses may take longer to arrive due to slow traffic.
Call Customer Care. If you have questions about trip planning, transit information or have a comment, please call (425) 353-RIDE (7433) or (800) 562-1375. You can also email riders@commtrans.org. Note: Customer Care is closed on weekends.

Edmonds College
Construction at Edmonds College is nearly complete! The newly repaved parking lot, sidewalks, curbs, and curb ramps are finished. Part of the parking lot is expected to re-open before the end of the year. Thank you for your patience during construction.
Currently, crews have been finalizing their utility upgrades located underneath the new transit loop. For the remainder of construction, crews will pave the new transit loop, build new bus loading platforms, and install transit center amenities, including new lighting and a new Swift Orange Line station.
Riders should continue using the temporary bus stops on 68th Ave West for Routes 115, 116, and 120 while crews continue to build the new bus loop.

Lynnwood Transit Center
Crews continue working in the bus loop at Lynnwood Transit Center. Crews have completed some of the demolition and paving for the new Swift Orange station. Please follow all detour signage during construction. Driving through the bus loop is prohibited at all times.
We understand that the various construction projects in and around Lynnwood Transit Center are impactful, and we appreciate your patience as we work to connect south Snohomish County to the region's high-capacity transit network in 2024 when Sound Transit's Link light rail extends to Lynnwood.
Community Transit’s construction for Swift Orange line is restricted to the east bus bays (C5 and D5). Lynnwood Transit Center is operated and maintained by Sound Transit, and the nearby construction in the transit center parking lot is due to construction for the Lynnwood Link Extension. For questions or comments regarding parking at the transit center or Link light rail construction, please contact Sound Transit’s Lynnwood Link Extension team directly at lynnwoodlink@soundtransit.org or 206-398-5300.
We encourage riders to sign up for Community Transit Rider Alerts to stay informed of temporary route relocations

McCollum Park
Construction crews at McCollum Park Park & Ride have recently finished demolishing sections of the existing parking lot in preparation for the new transit loop. Since this work was completed, crews have shifted their focus to paving efforts at other Orange Line stations along the corridor. Crews are expected to return to McCollum Park later this year.
In 2023, we will:
- Close the existing transit loop to construct the new reconfigured transit loop
- Make parking lot and sidewalk upgrades
- Add a new Swift Orange Line station with real-time arrival/departure information inside the park & ride
- Add new bus shelters for local routes
- Reconfigure some of the existing parking
- Build a new transit operator restroom
- Plant trees and landscaping near the new transit loop
When this next phase of construction begins in early 2023, transit riders will board their buses at the temporary loading platform near the new southern parking lot on Park Road. We will notify transit riders in advance of the bus stop closure. Signage will help transit riders find the new temporary loading platform.
What we’ve completed so far:
- Prepared the area for construction
- Demolished some parking spaces for upgrades
- Cleared the area between the existing bus loading zone and Dumas Road
- Paved the new parking lot south of the McCollum Park Athletic Field

196th St Southwest and Hwy 99
Crews working for Community Transit and local utility companies continue working at the corner of 196th St Southwest and Highway 99. This work is expected to last for several weeks.
In addition to the preparation work for the new Swift Orange Line stations, crews are also installing new Swift Blue Line stations on Hwy 99. This area will be the major transfer point for people wanting to transfer from Swift Blue Line to Swift Orange Line. A map of the future Swift network is provided below.
Learn about other work happening in this area
Crews working for the City of Lynnwood have also been working near this area as part of the 196th St Southwest (SR-524) Improvement Project. As you travel through this area, please plan for increased congestion from both projects.
Once completed, the new Swift Orange Line buses will be able to travel along 196th St Southwest using dedicated business access and transit lanes and connect riders to the growing City Center neighborhood and the region’s various transit lines.

Swamp Creek Park & Ride
Construction will begin soon at Swamp Creek Park & Ride!
Construction at Swamp Creek Park & Ride is anticipated to begin in early December. As part of this project, crews will complete sidewalk and street upgrades which include demolishing the existing concrete, and pouring and curing concrete. All concrete work is weather dependent, and the schedule is subject to change if there is cold or wet weather in the forecast.
Construction activities will include:
- Digging (potholing) to identify and upgrade underground utilities
- Demolishing and upgrading sections of the street and sidewalk
- Pouring and curing concrete
- Traffic lane shifts on 164th St Southwest and at the entrance to the park & ride
Crews will install new westbound and eastbound Swift Orange Line stations on 164th St Southwest, outside of the Swamp Creek Park & Ride parking lot. Most construction activities will be limited to 164th St Southwest. Please follow all traffic signs during construction.
