The new design of Edmonds College Transit Center. The changes will help provide a better experience for customers using bus facilities.

Edmonds College

The first phase of work is now complete

Crews have made great progress since the start of construction at Edmonds College earlier this year. The newly repaved parking lot, sidewalks, curbs, and curb ramps are finished. A section of the parking lot is expected to re-open soon. Thank you for your patience during construction.

Crews will continue to work on the transit loop, bus station platforms, and landscaping into 2023. Riders should continue using temporary bus stops on 68th Ave West for Routes 115, 116, and 120 for the duration of construction.

What we’ve completed so far

Since construction began in May 2022, crews have completed:

  • Road and sidewalk demolition
  • Utility relocation and upgrades
  • Curb and sidewalk upgrades
  • Temporary bus platform installation
  • Parking lot upgraded

Lynnwood Transit Center

Construction activities begin

Crews have started construction at Lynnwood Transit Center. Work includes demolition and paving at the east bus bays for the new Swift Orange station structure. People walking in the transit center should follow posted detour signs during construction.

Some parking spaces at Lynnwood Transit Center are currently closed off due to Sound Transit’s light rail construction. Please give yourself extra time if you are parking in the park and ride lot.

Bus routes serving bays C5 (northbound Routes 107 and 112) and D5 (southbound Routes 402 and 422) will shift to other bays at the transit center. Please follow all posted signage to find your route’s bay assignment.

We encourage riders to sign up for Community Transit Rider Alerts to stay informed of temporary route relocations.

Crews have demolished a section of the existing parking lot north of the current bus bays to grade the site for future upgrades.

McCollum Park

Since summer 2022, construction crews have been working to install a new parking lot and reconfigure the existing parking lot to prepare for the new transit loop at McCollum Park. Crews have completed paving the new parking lot south of the McCollum Park Athletic Field. Crews will return to the area to open the parking lot for use after it has been striped with parking stalls.

This month, crews have recently made progress on preparing the area for the construction of the transit loop, which will require a larger footprint than the existing bus loading zone once completed. Crews have recently demolished some parking spaces north of the current bus stops and cleared the area between the existing bus loading zone and Dumas Road.

In 2023, we will:

  • Upgrade the existing park and ride to construct the new reconfigured bus loop
  • Make parking lot and sidewalk upgrades
  • Add a new Swift Orange Line station with real-time arrival/departure information inside the park and ride
  • Add new bus shelters for local routes
  • Reconfigure some of the existing parking
  • Build a new transit operator restroom

When this next phase of construction begins, transit riders will need to board their buses at a temporary platform near the new southern parking lot on Park Road. We will notify transit riders in advance of the bus stop closure.

Construction is expected to continue through 2023, with significant construction in the transit loop beginning in early 2023.

About Swift Orange Line

Community Transit is expanding its Swift bus rapid transit (BRT) network with the addition of a third line, Swift Orange Line.

Swift Orange Line will connect south Snohomish County to the region’s high-capacity transit network in 2024 when Sound Transit’s Link light rail extends to Lynnwood.

Construction began in May 2022. Swift Orange Line service is scheduled to begin in 2024. During construction, we will occasionally send out email updates to share updates about construction, upcoming traffic impacts, and more information about the project.
