Crews have continued upgrading and relocating utilities at Edmonds College.
Construction for Swift Orange Line continues! This summer, crews have made a lot of progress on utility upgrades at Edmonds College, installing a new parking lot at McCollum Park, and installing new Swift station foundations throughout the project corridor. As part of our newsletter updates, we will first highlight any major construction activities or traffic changes and then give status updates on the other work at Swift stations along the corridor.
This issue of Swift Network News will focus on:
- Upcoming bus loop closures at Edmonds College

Route 115, 116 & 120 Stop Relocation
As early as Monday, August 15 crews will permanently close the existing bus loop at Edmonds College. We will install temporary bus stop platforms on 68th Ave W for Routes 115, 116, and 120. Riders can expect to use these temporary bus stops until the new Edmonds College Transit Center opens this fall.
People biking northbound on 68th Ave W between 204th St SW and 202nd St SW will need to merge with traffic to navigate around the temporary bus stop platform. The bike lane closure is expected to remain until early-2024 when the transit center is expected to open.
Riders can identify temporary stops by looking for signage or traffic cones on or near sidewalks.
To stay informed of temporary bus stop relocations, we encourage riders to sign up for Community Transit Rider Alerts.
Construction activities continue
Crews are continuing to make progress on the utility, water, and sidewalk upgrades at Edmonds College. Some sidewalks near Brier Hall have recently been completed. For the next few months, crews will continue completing water utility upgrades and forming, pouring, and curing concrete sidewalks, curbs, and curb ramps. Crews are also regrading the work zone to prepare for concrete to be poured for the new transit center and upgraded parking stalls.

McCollum Park construction begins
Over the next few weeks, crews will continue working near the southern entrance to the McCollum Park parking lot to build a new temporary bus loading zone and new ADA parking spots. During this work, crews may need to intermittently close the southern parking lot entrance for short periods of time. Please follow all pedestrian and traffic signage in the area and consider using the northwest entrance at 128th St SW (by the pool).
Upcoming impacts at McCollum Park
Crews are continuing to construct the new parking lot south of the McCollum Park Athletic Field. Once the new parking lot and bus loading zone has been installed, crews will remain in the area to begin construction on the main parking lot, existing bus loop, and make additional changes on Dumas Road. You can expect temporary intermittent closures for the parking lot and bus loop during construction. The final design for the McCollum Park Park and Ride can be found on our project website under “Terminal Stations.” Construction is expected to continue into 2023.

36th Ave W & Maple Road
Crews have completed the northbound bus pad and have continued their work digging (potholing) to identify and upgrade underground utilities and demolishing and upgrading sections of the street and sidewalk along 36th Ave W at Maple Road.
Crews will be partially removing the landscaped median for upgrades to the southbound bus stop. For the next several weeks, you can expect shifted lanes around work zones during construction.
