Swift Orange Line Construction Updates

Temporary bus stop relocations

Route 113 Northbound 36th Ave West & 179th St Southwest Stop Relocation

Due to construction for a new Swift Orange Line station, the northbound stop at 36th Avenue W and 179th Street SW in Lynnwood has been closed. We have installed a temporary bus stop approximately 300 feet north, across 179th Street SW. (Example of a temporary stop is pictured above.)

Throughout this project, we will continue to need to close bus stops for construction. We will install temporary bus stops near the previous bus stops. Riders can identify temporary stops by looking for signage or traffic cones on or near sidewalks.

To stay informed of temporary bus stop relocations, we encourage riders to sign up for Community Transit Rider Alerts. For construction-related concerns, call (425) 224-2441 or email swiftorangeconstruction@commtrans.org

36th Ave West & Maple Road

Crews have started work along 36th Avenue West at Maple Road. McCollum Park

Crews have started preparing the McCollum Park Park and Ride for construction. Active construction is anticipated to begin as early as next week. The first phase of construction includes:

  • Clearing the area south of the McCollum Park Athletic Field in preparation for a new parking lot
  • Installing the foundation (subgrade) for the new parking lot
  • Pouring and curing the new parking lot
  • Temporarily relocating ADA parking spots to the new parking lot once completed
  • Adding a new temporary bus loading zone south of the existing BMX track

Construction is expected to continue into 2023. Once the new temporary parking lot and bus loading zone has been installed, crews will remain in the area to begin construction for the main parking lot, bus zones, and to complete work on Dumas Road. The final design for the McCollum Park Park and Ride can be found on our project website under “Terminal Stations.”

196th St and Hwy 99

As part of this project, several utility companies will be completing upgrades in the project corridor. Crews working for Zayo – a telecommunications utility provider – have started working at the corner of 196th Street SW and Highway 99. This work will take place overnight and will continue for several weeks.

Stay Informed

During construction, we will occasionally send out email updates to share updates about construction, upcoming traffic impacts, and more information about the project.

If you are located near a planned Swift station, please take a moment to fill out our construction survey. We may be reaching out to neighbors if there are any anticipated impacts prior to construction starting at each location.
