 ORCA allows for contact-free payment
Community Transit Fares Restart July 1
Community Transit will resume collecting fares on all its bus routes and DART paratransit service on Wednesday, July 1.
Community Transit temporarily suspended the collection of fares in March to assist with physical distancing between drivers and customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Riders have been boarding and exiting through the middle and rear doors of the bus, except for ADA customers. On June 1, the agency restored fare collection on its Swift bus rapid transit service since riders pay their fares at Swift stations, not on the bus.
Fares are resuming on July 1 to allow ORCA monthly passholders to get full value out of their July pass. ORCA retail outlets in Snohomish County are open to purchase July passes. Bus Service to Ramp up in Response to Expected Increase in Ridership
On June 5, Snohomish County was approved to move into Phase 2 of Washington’s Safe Start program to reopen the economy. Community Transit plans to increase its bus service this summer to meet an expected increase in ridership demand.

Preferred Route for Swift Blue Line Extension Chosen
Community Transit announced its preferred route to connect the Swift Blue Line bus rapid transit service with Sound Transit’s Link light rail in Shoreline, in 2024. The proposed alignment via 200th St., Meridian Ave., and 185th St. would continue to utilize the Aurora Village Transit Center on its way to connect to light rail. Mountlake Terrace Transit Center Freeway Station to Close July 6 until Late November
Starting Monday, July 6, the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center Freeway Station will be closed through late November.
The nearly five-month closure is needed to facilitate construction of the Link light rail extension north to Lynnwood.
While the freeway station is closed, riders can continue to use the transit center’s parking garage. Free temporary shuttle service will be provided between the transit center and downtown Seattle. Read about the closure and shuttle at https://bit.ly/3f8E3cW
