The southbound Swift Green Line station on Airport Rd. and 100th St. SW is ready for electrical power. Next will come ticket vending machines, next bus signs and ORCA card readers.

Swift Green Line Station Construction

Station Work Impacting Traffic Less

Crews working on the Swift Green Line stations are transitioning from the most visible phases of construction to more behind-the-scenes phases that do not impact traffic.

The stations north and west of I-5 are furthest along in this process; they have their steel frames and in-lane concrete pads in place and are being "roughed in" for electrical power that will run ticket vending machines, next bus signs and ORCA card readers.

Stations south and east of I-5, however, aren't all at that stage yet. Most notable is the ongoing construction of retaining walls at the southbound station on Bothell-Everett Highway at 164th St. Crews are working hard to complete weather-dependent projects by taking advantage of good weather when it's available.

On Oct. 29, crews are scheduled to work on traffic signals on Bothell-Everett Highway at 153rd; more traffic signal work is scheduled for Oct. 30 on Airport Rd. at 112th St. SW. Traffic signal work is done at night with minimal impact on traffic.

SNN Community Events
Veterans Day 2017

Mill Creek Loves a Parade... and so Do We

Mill Creek knows how to throw a parade, and this November and December, Community Transit's Swift bus will be along for the ride... so to speak.

Transit superhero Oxy Gene will lead a Swift bus in both of the following Mill Creek events:

Nov. 10
Mill Creek Veteran's Day Parade

Parade starts at 11 a.m. (see photo of last year's parade).

Dec. 1
Santa's Coming to Town at Mill Creek Center

The Santa parade starts at 3:30 p.m., followed by a Community Transit information booth and carriage rides 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Seaway Transit Center
Seaway October

On Schedule for Completion by the End of the Year

Landscaping crews have installed native trees, shrubs and groundcover plants over one-third of the three-acre site (see photo). Extra soil and bark was added to help keep the plants in place and insulate them against winter weather.

Crews have also finished installing fencing along the PUD property line and constructing the building that houses the mechanical systems for the transit center (see photo).

The Seaway Transit Center is on schedule to be completed by the end of the year. Early next year, the site will be used for training drivers from all agencies that will be using the transit center when it opens in the spring.

Information about the Seaway Transit Center is online at www.communitytransit.org/Seaway

Community Transit Live
Melissa and Martin

Swift Construction and a New Recruitment Office

This month's Community Transit Live webcast included Swift construction updates and lots of information about all of the hiring going on at our expanding agency.

Melissa Anderson (pictured), from our Human Resources division, appeared as a special guest from the agency's new recruitment office in Everett. While showing off the new location (the site of a job fair on Oct. 24), she talked about the positions we are hiring for and the hiring process.

The next Community Transit Live will take place at noon on Monday, Nov. 12.

The Swift Blue Line stations have all been repainted

Painting Project Is Complete

Friday, Oct. 19, marked the conclusion of a months-long project to revitalize the Swift Blue Line stations.

Since late spring, crews have painted all 33 stations with high-performance paint that should last 15 years, closing two stations per week to get the work done.

In addition to being repainted, each station also received a refresh of the welcome mats that designate entry locations for Swift passengers with bicycles or mobility devices.

Thank you to all of our customers and to the businesses surrounding the Swift stations for your patience and cooperation as each station was worked on. We appreciate it!

Swift Green Line Info
Swift Green Line Construction Area Map

Construction Includes Four Areas, Several Stages

The Swift Green Line will run between the Canyon Park Park & Ride in Bothell and the Seaway Transit Center, which is currently under construction near the Boeing Everett plant.

Swift Green Line buses will serve 34 stations at 16 intersections and two terminals every 10 minutes weekdays, and every 20 minutes nights and weekends.

Community Transit is building the stations in stages: underground utility work, concrete platforms, and finally the station structures.

Construction began in Area 1, the northernmost part of the route, and will generally move east and south, resulting in each station being visited several times in 2018.

Swift stations will provide weather protection, seating, adequate lighting, real-time next bus signs, and a rider information kiosk. ORCA smart card readers and ticket vending machines will provide quick and easy ways for riders to pay their fare before boarding a Swift bus.

The Swift Green Line will connect with the Swift Blue Line at Hwy 99 & Airport Rd., establishing Snohomish County’s first high-capacity transit network. The network will eventually include more Swift lines and Link light rail.

The Swift Green Line will begin service in spring 2019.
