Swift Returns to 10-Minute Service
On Monday, Sept. 24, the Swift Blue Line will run buses every 10 minutes between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. weekdays. Swift service runs every 20 minutes early mornings, at night and on weekends.
This is a 20 percent increase in weekday service on Community Transit’s highest ridership route, or two extra buses an hour. It will be easier to transfer to other transit connections along Hwy 99 between Everett Station and Shoreline.
This fall’s other big changes include:

Route 109 (Ash Way-Lake Stevens) will serve 99th Street in Lake Stevens.

Route 120 (Canyon Park-Edmonds) will provide 30-minute service from early morning to 6 p.m.

Route 196 (Edmonds-Ash Way) will serve the Lynnwood Transit Center.

Route 413 (Lynnwood-Seattle) will offer midday and later evening service to and from Seattle.
All customers are advised to check their schedules to see if their regular bus trip time has changed.

 Local Bus, DART Fares Rising 25 Cents, Oct. 1
On Oct. 1, local bus and DART paratransit fares will increase by 25 cents. Vanpool fares will also increase by an average of 3 percent, or about $14 a van per month.
Commuter bus riders into King County will see some changes, but not fare increases. The “North/East County” fare category will be eliminated, so all King County commuters will pay the same fare. Also, all riders on commuter routes (400 or 800 series routes) will pay the commuter fare even if they are only traveling within Snohomish County.
This fare policy decision to eliminate zone fares is being done by all Puget Sound agencies in preparation for the Next Generation ORCA fare project.

 More Service Means More Drivers!
In the past few weeks, Community Transit graduated 15 new bus drivers from its training program. These drivers have been recruited to help meet the increasing service needs as more trips are added on our existing routes.
Despite all the hiring, training and graduating, even more drivers are needed! The Swift Green Line opens in spring 2019 and represents a significant increase in transit service for south Snohomish County.  Driver Wins Quilting Awards at Evergreen State Fair
Community Transit driver Alva Lissner was honored for her creative talents at the Evergreen State Fair last month. Her quilting prowess and eye for color and design earned her a Blue Ribbon, the Class Runner-Up Award, and the Viewer’s Choice Award in Quilting. Alva has driven for the agency since 2015.
