board approves 12 percent service expansion, fare increase

The Community Transit Board of Directors yesterday approved a 12 percent service increase that will restore 10-minute weekday service to the Swift Blue Line this fall and launch the new Swift Green Line between Bothell and Paine Field next spring.

Several other route changes were approved, including changes to Boeing service that will coincide with the 2019 Swift Green Line launch, Route 413 midday trips to Seattle and Route 196 serving Lynnwood Transit Center.

The board also approved a 25-cent fare increase for local bus and DART paratransit service, a 3 percent increase in vanpool fares, and a simplification of commuter fares effective Oct. 1, 2018.

Details of the service and fare plans are available at www.communitytransit.org/NewService.

swift blue line stations to be repaintedDemo Swift Station at Merrill Creek

The Swift Blue Line has been operating between Everett and Shoreline for more than 8 years, and it’s time for a fresh coat of paint!

This spring and summer all 33 Swift Blue Line stations will be repainted.

It will take approximately one week for each station to be repainted. During that time, the station will be closed off so the work can be done quickly and in an environmentally safe manner.

Repainting is expected to start later this month and continue through the end of summer.

Concrete has been poured for bus stop foundations at the future Seaway Transit Center.

Construction on the Swift Green Line between Bothell and Paine Field is accelerating now that drier weather has arrived (on most days).

Over the past few weeks, lots of concrete has been poured at the site of the future Seaway Transit Center, along 128th Street near I-5 and at future Swift station sites along the route. That work is weather-dependent, and with the recent stretch of warmer, drier weather, the pours have increased.

Station construction work has reached Mill Creek, and all 34 station sites will be under construction within the next few weeks. Keep updated about Swift Green Line construction by subscribing to the weekly Swift Network News at communitytransit.org/SwiftNews.
