Chip Seal Application
Chip Seal is one of the pavement preservation tools used by Island County to extend the life of our pavement and keep our roads in good condition.
The following roads are scheduled for Chip Seal July 22, 2024.
Monday 7/22/2024 Lone Lake Rd
Chip Seal application includes an emulsion layer, closely followed by a gravel layer (the 'chip'). The gravel is then pressed into the base using a roller to compact the emulsion and gravel into a singular paved surface.
If used as a top layer or resurfacing measure to asphalt, it helps keep the existing pavement in good condition.
