Not often you get to see a (controlled) fire in City Hall Plaza on a Tuesday.
Auburn is rich with history — from historical Main Street to the artifacts preserved throughout White River Valley Museum — I am excited to share these stories with all of you each week.
(Image courtesy of White River Valley Museum)
Frank Natsuhara cuts the ribbon at the dedication of the White River Buddhist Temple’s new building, September 13, 1964. The White River Buddhist Temple, founded in 1912, had two previous buildings but the new temple was the first purpose-built temple building the community built. Throughout its history the Temple has served not only as a home for religious services, but as a hub for the Nikkei community in the Valley – offering space for arts and language classes, sponsoring sports teams, and hosting the annual Bon Odori celebration every summer.
