Thank you everyone who joined us in the plaza this morning to rally in support of your Seattle Seahawks!

It's been a little over ten years since the Seahawks were in the Super Bowl (and no, we're not going to talk about the final play of that game, even though Coach McDonald did have an amazing answer). It's only fitting their opponent is the same team that ended that roller coaster 2014 season in heartache and denial.
Well, now is the time to forget all of that and WIN on Sunday! We'll be rooting right here in Auburn and sending as many good vibes as possible!
GO HAWKS!!!
Washington cities love the Seahawks!

Auburn participated in a statewide video featuring cities across the state supporting the Seahawks.
You can view the video on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. You can also watch it on Vimeo.

2026 marks 100 years of the federal commemoration of Black History Month! This February, we'll be sharing photos and stories of community members who walked our very streets. Pictured is Leroy Fields, former student of Auburn High School. Leroy was part of student council and the football team and was even voted "Friendliest Senior Boy" in 1968. That year he was also crowned the Mai-Lan Dance King, along with his queen date, Frani Schneider. Less than a year earlier, the Supreme Court had finally struck down the last laws prohibiting interracial marriage.
Keep an eye out for more local stories like this one all month long. Happy #BlackHistoryMonth!

Two CERT classmates participating in the final drill.
One of the best ways we can look out for one another in Auburn is by being prepared, especially when emergencies happen. That’s why I’m excited to share that registration is now open for our next Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class!
CERT training gives everyday residents the tools and confidence to help themselves, their families, and their neighbors during and after disasters. From basic first aid to disaster response and team coordination, this free course helps turn concern into action.
Classes will meet Wednesday evenings from April 29 through June 13, 2026, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Auburn Emergency Operations Center. Participants will also take part in two Saturday drills on May 23 and June 13 to practice real-world skills.
Graduates receive a backpack filled with safety gear -- including a hard hat, reflective vest, goggles, and more -- to keep. All you need to bring is a pair of sturdy shoes and work gloves!
The best part? It's completely free!
If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved, learning new skills, or being ready to help when it matters most, I encourage you to sign up.

I want to share a quick update with you about the White River.
On Monday morning, some residents may receive an automated alert as the river briefly enters Flood Phase 1, also known as the “Action Stage.” This is the lowest flood level and is part of routine monitoring by our local and regional partners.
At this stage, no flooding is expected and no action is needed from residents. It simply means our teams are paying closer attention and coordinating, as they always do to keep our community informed and prepared.
Current forecasts show the river should return to normal levels later that same day, with no anticipated impacts.
We’re sharing this information ahead of time so that if you receive an alert, you’ll know exactly what it means and won’t be caught off guard!
As always, my thanks to our Emergency Management and Public Works teams for their continued monitoring and preparedness, and thank you to our residents for staying informed and connected!
We will continue to share updates if anything changes.
