UNFINISHED BUSINESS | Postmark center for the Arts

Postmark Gallery
Postmark Center for the Arts, 20 Auburn Ave

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Exhibition dates: Through January 21, 2026

Closing reception: Wednesday, January 21 | 4:30 - 6PM

UNFINISHED BUSINESS presents a unique challenge to members of Parallax Arts Collective, CLUSTER, and allied individuals: to engage creatively with the incomplete. Every artist has unfinished works in their studio or a collection of raw materials—pieces whose potential remains unrealized. This project invites members to freely give unfinished art or materials to fellow artists, who in turn will respond by creating new artwork inspired by what they receive.

Participation in UNFINISHED BUSINESS requires a spirit of openness and collaboration. Artists must be willing to both give and accept materials freely, without reservation or expectation regarding their use. The emphasis is on trust, transformation, and the generative potential of creative exchange.

Nikita Mehta - Everything is Finite

Art on Main Gallery
East Main St between N Division St and Auburn Ave
Windowfront viewable streetside 24/7

Nikita Mehta
Exhibition Dates: October 18 - January 5, 2025

Everything is Finite” explores the idea of existence and the nature of time. The clocks speak to the limits of a journey, the mirrors return your image as a reminder that you are also part of that same reality, and the photographs of nature show how the same cycles shape the world around us. A sheer fabric hangs between them, acting as a veil that represents the distractions and shifting perceptions that can sometimes blur our awareness and pull us away from what’s important. Together, these elements invite us to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most, because everything is finite.” -Nikita Mehta

Kyle Ocean AOM 2026

Art on Main Gallery
East Main St between N Division St and Auburn Ave
Windowfront viewable streetside 24/7

Kyle Ocean
Exhibition Dates: January 16 - April 6, 2026

We are eager to host a new artist at the Art on Main Gallery, Kyle Ocean!

Kyle Ocean is a sculpture artist residing in western Washington whose work is concept-driven and centered around geographical exploration and public involvement. His sculptural work utilizes the graphic language of his printmaking and drawing, translating that language into equally expressive three-dimensional form. Much of Kyle’s work is site-specific and centers around how the work will add to the space that it occupies, with the end goal to be bringing the natural world into our concrete city-scapes.

Rachel Barnes - Sitting with the Dream

Vault Gallery
Postmark Center for the Arts, 20 Auburn Ave
Gallery viewable during Postmark open hours

Rachel Barnes
Exhibition Dates: October 13 - January 5, 2025

Driven by a fascination with the emotional resonance of color and the narrative potential of texture, Barnes explores themes ranging from dream symbolism and fantastical realms to the untranslatable nuances of language. Her collections often reflect a curiosity about the invisible or overlooked—transforming abstract concepts into tangible, touchable forms.

Barnes’s artistic mission is to weave color and texture into the fabric of daily life, fostering creativity, sparking connection, and embracing the beautiful chaos of shared human experience.

Kelly Haejung Paik

Kelly Haejung Paik
Exhibition Dates: January 16 - April 6, 2026

We are excited to host a new artist at the Vault Gallery, Kelly Haejung Paik!

"My work explores cultural memory, identity, and transformation through abstraction, dimensional relief, and installation. As a Korean American artist, I draw from traditional Korean vases and cultural artifacts—reinterpreting their forms, colors, and symbolism through contemporary abstraction. Korean vessels and artifacts carry layered meaning: they are objects of daily life, repositories of cultural history, and symbols of continuity across generations. I approach them as both cultural icons and metaphors—luminous forms that embody balance, fragility, and resilience." -Kelly Haejung Paik

Rachel Wold

Community Center Gallery
Auburn Community & Event Center
910 9th St SE

Rachel Wold
Exhibition Dates: November 6 - January 8, 2026

Rachel Wold is an abstract artist based in Seattle. She grew up drawing, painting, and exploring the Pacific Northwest and finds solace and inspiration in nature. Although prolific early in life, Rachel fell out of a creative lifestyle in her mid-twenties after pursuing degrees and a career in science.
After suffering first a miscarriage, then postpartum depression after her second was born, she picked up an old sketchbook in search of emotional relief. Putting pen to paper again after a decade hiatus reignited her creative passion. She now makes time for her art practice around her fulfilling work and raising two small children.

Contemporary Quilt Art Association
Rhythm and Rhyme: The Climate in Which We Live
Exhibition Dates: January 8 - March 12, 2026

We are excited to introduce a new group exhibition titled Rhythm and Rhyme: The Climate in Which We Live by Contemporary Quilt Art Association!

"Contemporary Quilt Art Association is a group of Washington fiber artists whose medium of choice is the art quilt. Members work in a variety of styles in both two and three dimensions, exploring innovative methods of surface design and construction, including hand dyeing, painting and printing on fabric, digital imagery, and use of unconventional and/or recycled materials. Work that has been layered and stitched is the one common denominator. The artistic vision projected in our work is likewise varied. Each of the examples in this application represents the work of a different artist. The pieces exhibited in all our shows have been carefully selected by a CQA jury to ensure a high quality of design and craftsmanship."

Annette Stiers Jones
Exhibition Dates: January 7 - March 11, 2026

We are pleased to introduce Annette Stiers Jones as our new Cheryl Sallee Gallery artist!

"I am Annette Stiers Jones, a landscape photographer based in Washington’s Pacific Northwest. My journey began in childhood, when early encounters with a camera sparked a lasting fascination with art and storytelling. Today, I seek to capture the fleeting beauty of wild places—sunsets igniting alpine peaks, wildflowers glowing at golden hour, the Milky Way stretching across silent skies. Nature is ever-changing, sometimes subtly, sometimes suddenly, and each photograph preserves a moment that might otherwise be lost. Through my work, I hope to offer a sense of peace, strength, and wonder—an invitation to pause, reflect, and carry the serenity of the natural world into everyday life." -Annette Stiers Jones
