It's happening! As we've communicated in the past, big changes are coming to SR 167 on Monday, Oct. 20 -- and on behalf of the Washington State Department of Transportation, we want you to be ready! Starting that day, drivers will see new toll rate signs, updated lane markings, and new carpooling rules along the corridor.
If you use SR 167 between Auburn and Renton, now’s the time to get set up for the new express toll lane system.
What’s Changing
-
New tolling equipment is being installed to bring SR 167 in line with other toll roads statewide. Drivers without a Good To Go! account can still use the lane and will receive a bill in the mail (Pay By Mail tolls cost $2 more than Good To Go! rates).
-
Carpoolers must have a Good To Go! Flex Pass set to HOV mode to travel toll-free. Simply having two or more people in the car isn’t enough without the Flex Pass set correctly.
-
Motorcycles will need a Motorcycle Pass to avoid paying tolls.
-
The roadway now features designated access points marked by dashed white lines. Double white lines are illegal to cross.
-
SR 167 will be divided into three toll zones. Drivers pay only the rate posted when they enter and exit -- not each number on the sign.
NOTE: The planned conversion of six miles of northbound HOV lane between Sumner and Pacific has been delayed until all SR 167 lanes reopen following the bridge strike and planned repairs in Pacific. Once that is complete, tolling will begin on that stretch of highway.
