KEEP A'LIVIN'

Listen to Kathya Alexander share her personal stories of living through the Civil Rights Movement. Go beyond the history of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with interactive storytelling that has audiences fully engaged for the duration of her performance. While her novel, KEEP A' LIVIN', is a work of fiction, it is storytelling connected to her personal childhood experiences.

For many, this is their first experience meeting someone who lived through the Movement. History lessons come alive through a first-hand account of both great and terrible moments
in our nation’s heritage. Now more than ever that history needs to be revisited and retold.

Zine Workshop 2024

12-4PM
Create a Zine

Stop by our classroom from 12-4 to create your own zine! Inspired by Kathya Alexander's storytelling, you will have the opportunity to write, draw and write your own story in the form of a mini folded book!

Lauren Boilini 2025

Art on Main Gallery
East Main St between N Division St and Auburn Ave
Windowfront viewable streetside 24/7

Lauren Boilini
Exhibition Dates: July 19 - October 5, 2025

We are excited to host a new artist at the Art on Main Gallery, Lauren Boilini!

Artist Statement: This new installation relates to a body of work inspired by time I spent living with a partner on the Kitsap Peninsula, specifically through the height of the pandemic. He had a large group of peafowl, also known as a muster, an ostentation or a pride, living on his property. I would wake every morning to a peacock at each of the glass doors, standing on the deck and porches, glaring indignantly at their own reflections, opening their massive plumage and shaking their feathers. These daily rituals and their loud calls became the soundtrack for our time together in the pandemic." -Lauren Boilini

Hae Chon Lee

Auburn Community and Event Center Gallery
910 Ninth St. SE

Hae Chon Lee
Exhibition Dates: July 10 - September 4, 2025

We are happy to have Hae Chon Lee as our Community Center Gallery artist until September 4!

Artist statement: “Despite the apparent severance of human relationships due to the constraints of time and space, humans are eternally connected across time and space. The love and interest we have for people from the past play a crucial role in bringing the past into the present. This attention and love for past figures allow us to feel that they are living and breathing with us in the present. Therefore, our lives are not limited to a short span but extend like history, giving us a sense of living a longer life. The past, present, and future coexist, meaning our existence transcends into eternity and is never forgotten. This way, we gain a deeper sense of eternal life.” -Hae Chon Lee

Rachel Barnes & Weston Lambert

Auburn Community and Event Center Gallery
910 Ninth St. SE

Rachel Barnes and Weston Lambert
Exhibition Dates: September 4 - November 5, 2025

We are happy to introduce two new Community Center Gallery artists, Rachel Barnes and Weston Lambert!

Rachel Barnes is a fiber artist based in the greater Seattle area who creates rug installations for walls with eye-catching bright colors and varied pile heights to add interest. Intrigued by expressing complex and entertaining ideas through color and texture, She has been inspired to create collections addressing symbols in dreams, other colorful imaginary worlds, and lexical gaps in English that are succinctly explained in other languages.

Weston Lambert’s artwork is about “dualities and the balancing of contrasting forces--a place where transparency/opacity, rigidity/pliability, and ephemeral/eternal coexist, each taking part in creating equilibrium. Through the intense heat of the kiln and days of grinding/polishing, molten glass nestles into the stone’s curves, while mechanical carving simulates eons of erosion. ”

Ari Hoskinson

Cheryl Sallee Gallery
Auburn Senior Center
808 Ninth St. SE

Ari Hoskinson
Exhibition Dates: July 11 - September 3, 2025

We are happy to have artist Ari Hoskinson at the Cheryl Sallee Gallery until September 3!

Artist statement: “I was a writer before I was ever a visual artist. I can’t remember a second of my life before I fell in love with stories. It’s almost like my existence began not from birth, but from the moment I could hold a pen. Somewhere along the way, I began telling my stories through drawings rather than words. Every scene I draw is laced with a hint.” -Ari Hoskinson

Miles Jordan

Cheryl Sallee Gallery
Auburn Senior Center
808 Ninth St. SE

Miles Jordan
Exhibition Dates: September 3 - November 4, 2025

We're excited to introduce Miles Jordan as our new Cheryl Sallee Gallery artist!

“My project, 504-907, delves into a visual comparison of two distinct yet intertwined regions—Southern Louisiana and Interior Alaska—through the lens of diptych compositions. Through a fusion of traditional street and documentary photography techniques, I capture the essence of daily life in New Orleans, Louisiana and Fairbanks, Alaska. The diptych format serves as a storytelling tool, juxtaposing ordinary elements and unique characteristics of each locale. People, dwellings, and the minutiae of urban life—like graffiti—converge to reveal underlying connections and distinctions. At its core, 504-907 is a reflection on the profound yearning for connection and the preservation of cultural identity in the face of relentless change.”
