This post is a news release created by Washington State Department of Transportation.
Eastbound SR 18 will be reduced to a single lane for three nights this week and the Auburn Way South on-ramp will close for two, as a pavement overlay and repair project continues to improve the ride in Auburn.
Lane and ramp closuresContractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close a single lane near Auburn Way South (milepost 4 to 5) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly Tuesday, July 29, through Friday morning, Aug. 1. People should expect delays during the following closures:
-
Tuesday night, July 29: The right lane of eastbound SR 18 and the Auburn Way South on-ramp.
-
Wednesday night, July 30: The left lane of eastbound SR 18.
-
Thursday night, July 31: The right lane of eastbound SR 18 and the Auburn Way South on-ramp.
A signed detour during the Auburn Way South on-ramp closures will use city streets to guide people to the C Street Southwest on-ramp to eastbound SR 18.
The work is part of a project that will pave roughly 3 miles of eastbound SR 18 from C Street Southwest to the Green River, creating a smoother ride and preserving the highway for years to come. The project also will replace aging expansion joints on the C Street bridge.
