1-1:30PM Pre-performance Workshop
Before her performance, Kathak Dancer Pooja Ganesh will be hosting a workshop, providing an introduction to the storytelling aspects of Kathak.
1:30-2:30PM Raghava Lahari: A Kathak Presentation
Join us for a Kathak presentation (Indian classical dance form). "Raghava Lahari" is an evocative Kathak recital that weaves together music, movement, and storytelling to celebrate the divine virtues, love, and triumphs of Lord Rama and Sita, presented by Pooja Ganesh under the guidance of her Gurus Smt.Nirupama Rajendra and Shri.T.D.Rajendra, featuring a live music ensemble by Ravi Albright and Sampada Bhalerao. The recital draws inspiration from the iconic hymn "Raghupati Raghava Rajaram", a deeply spiritual composition whose original lyrics are preserved, respecting its traditional and cultural significance.
The recital incorporates the concept of Lehera or Lahari—melodic phrases played on the sitar in and related to Raga Gara—to serve as interludes. These laharis connect the dancer’s transitions between singing and enacting, creating a seamless flow between vocal devotion and expressive storytelling. Each scene unveils a new chapter in the divine narrative.

My main goal is to capture the true essence of my subjects by revealing their vulnerable selves, free from any masks. I want my art to make people think about the deeper meanings and connections in everyday human interactions, encouraging empathy and reflection in the midst of life's chaos. Portraits are at the heart of what I do, as they allow me to explore the depths of the human soul. I aim to present these portraits in a way that combines beauty, intelligence, and emotional depth. In my artistic journey, I'm guided by a respect for the human body, a love for nature, and a belief in the emotional impact of visual art." -Kameh Saman
