Maura Freemen

Community Center Gallery
910 Ninth Street SE

Artist: Maura Freeman
Exhibition Dates: November 2, 2022 - January 4, 2023

Maura Freeman is a self-taught, Seattle-based photographer and sculptor who transforms natural found-objects into imaginative, unique sculptures which she then photographs. The focus of her art is to honor Mother Nature and the sacred spaces and mysteries she provides all of us. Freeman’s goal is that the viewer will use their imagination to be in nature, no matter where they are standing in the moment.

Lewis LaBrashe

City Hall Gallery
25 W. Main Street

Artist: Lewis LaBrashé
Exhibition Dates: November 2, 2022 - January 4, 2023

Lewis LaBrashé describes himself as an Artist/Expressionist. Inspired by the natural landscapes he encounters while hiking, he loves recreating these in his work. Many of his paintings are directly influenced by the time he spends in nature. LaBrashé feels that working in one medium is too restrictive, so often uses multiple media (including acrylics, resins and pastels) to achieve the desired effect.

For more information about the artist, please visit Lewis LaBrashé's website.

Bella Kim

Art on Main Gallery
One Main Street

Artist: Bella Kim
Title: "Winter Tidings" and "JOGAKBO Journey: Save Big"
Exhibition Dates: October 10, 2022 - January 2, 2023

Artist Bella Kim creates beautiful textile artworks using recycled materials. She loves to see "the harmony of small and insignificant patches, which blend so well together, often making patterns, textures, and unexpected effects such as transparency, shadows, and even 3-dimensional structures."  Inspired by Korean traditional and western abstract art, Kim writes about how creativity is "often sparked by my imagination from nature, and the world around me. This transformation of useless materials into meaningful results gives me endless joy and I hope that people would also appreciate how ordinary materials can be used for art."

For more information about the artist, please visit Bella Kim's website.

WRVM Like Mother

White River Valley Museum
918 H Street SE, Auburn, WA 98002

LIKE MOTHER
On Exhibit July 6 - December 30, 2022

How are you like your mother? In what ways do you wish you were not like your mother? LIKE MOTHER is an exhibit that explores these questions and more through the works of Northwest artists. Curated by local artist and cartist (art car creator) Kelly Lyles, this exhibit covers the good, the beautiful, the bad, and the heartbreaking relationships we have with our parents.

LABOR of LOVE in the Museum’s Permanent Exhibits

Accompanying LIKE MOTHER, the Museum will explore the work of caring for your loved ones in its permanent exhibit galleries. LABOR of LOVE is an audio tour that highlights artifacts with recordings from the Museum’s oral history collection. Listen to stories of everyday life and how people made do, or made more, through their devotion to their family and community.
