2023 Art on Main Gallery - Artists are selected through an annual application process to install 3-dimensional or multi-media art installations in a public window-front exhibition space in downtown Auburn.

Deadline to apply: September 8, 2022,10:59 pm

Eligibility: This is a call to artists residing in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon and Idaho).

Project Budget: $1,000 stipend for selected artists

Art Galleries

2023 Art Galleries - Artists are selected through an annual application process for exhibitions in city gallery spaces, showcasing diverse artworks by regional artists.

Deadline to apply: September 8, 2022, 10:59 pm

Eligibility: This is a call to artists with no geographical restriction, but all artwork must be dropped off and picked up in person in Auburn, WA on the assigned exhibition dates.

Mary Olson Farm Artist in Residence

2023 Mary Olson Farm Artist in Residence - The Mary Olson Farm Artist in Residence provides the opportunity for an artist to pursue their work in, and to be inspired by, the unique and beautiful setting of the Mary Olson Farm in Auburn, Washington for two months in June and July. 

Deadline to apply: October 6, 2022, 10:59 pm

Eligibility: This is a call to artists or artist teams currently residing in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon and Idaho)

Project Budget: $3,500 stipend for the selected artist

Intro to Still Life Drawing

This class teaches you how to slow down and observe the world around you. We will focus on composition, proportion, and traditional drawing skills. We will be drawing from observation, and you will learn different drawing and sighting techniques.  All materials will be provided, and no experience is necessary!

Beginning Fused Glass

Beginning Fused Glass

Astound your significant other, amaze your friends and family, be the envy of your neighborhood with your very own fused glass creations. Our class covers basic types of fusible glass and techniques that will allow you to create two 4x4 tiles and a pendant art piece. Your art pieces will be fired by the instructor and available for pickup 7 days after the class.

Artist: Xander Griffith
Exhibition Dates: July 7 - November 3, 2022

Xander Griffith creates rich works of art that pay homage to the cultural heritage and incredible landscape of the Northwest. Working in felt, Griffith builds layer upon layer, using vibrant color to create works of stunning beauty and complexity. Xander’s intention is for this work to “inspire the minds of tomorrow who are always expecting the unexpected, hoping they will leave the art with an elevated spirit, like spires on the horizon as they look onto the future.”

Brooke Fotheringham

Artist: Brooke Fotheringham
Exhibition Dates: July 6 - November 2, 2022

Creating mesmerizing kaleidoscopic artworks, artist Brooke Fotheringham’s experiments in digital photo editing and interests in eco modernism have inspired her most recent work. Her artwork is intended to be “a visual exploration of the potential of genetic engineering to survive on a rapidly changing planet; a collection of new life and materials I have imagined by manipulating and rearranging botanical and synthesized forms.”

Cindy Shebley

Artist: Cindy Shebley
Exhibition Dates: August 30 - November 2, 2022

Cindy Shebley’s photography features the deeply affectionate, intensely friendly, and joyfully energetic pit bull dogs adopted by her family when they were just a few weeks old. “They’ve graciously agreed to be models for my whimsical visions” says Shebley. “They are goofy, loyal and full of devotion to each other and our family.” She hopes these photographs will help viewers to see what funny, loveable dogs they are.

Artist: Michael Dinning
Title: American Fabric
Exhibition Dates: July 16 - October 2, 2022

Artist Michael Dinning will be displaying a version of his installation titled "American Fabric." The artist writes about his work and describes how "the identity of a country is defined by the identity of it’s people. America is a complex collections of individuals and traditions, and to understand how and where we fit in the world it is important to value the life right around us, our communities of people and events, routines and ideas."

The Downtown Sculpture Gallery showcases ten outdoor sculptures of various sizes, types, and mediums. The sculpture gallery changes annually providing different artwork for Auburn residents to experience and enjoy.

Arts & Culture Rendering 3

The transformation of Auburn's historic Post Office into the Auburn Arts & Culture Center is underway. The facility will provide increased access to the arts and cultural education for the local and regional community and drive economic activities in Auburn’s downtown core.

LIKE MOTHER
On Exhibit July 6 - December 30, 2022

How are you like your mother? In what ways do you wish you were not like your mother? LIKE MOTHER is an exhibit that explores these questions and more through the works of Northwest artists. Curated by local artist and cartist (art car creator) Kelly Lyles, this exhibit covers the good, the beautiful, the bad, and the heartbreaking relationships we have with our parents.

LABOR of LOVE in the Museum’s Permanent Exhibits

Accompanying LIKE MOTHER, the Museum will explore the work of caring for your loved ones in its permanent exhibit galleries. LABOR of LOVE is an audio tour that highlights artifacts with recordings from the Museum’s oral history collection. Listen to stories of everyday life and how people made do, or made more, through their devotion to their family and community.
