Mary Olson Farm Artist in Residence

MARY OLSON FARM ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

Artist Amanda Triplett, our 2022 Mary Olson Farm Artist in Residence, is about to begin work creating art onsite at the farm! We are thrilled to be working with her, can't wait to see the unique sculptural textile art she creates! The artist is based near Portland, Oregon, and creates unique sculptural artwork that exists at the "intersection of fine art and craftwork," often embroidering and manipulating recycled textiles into sculptural, performative, and installation works.

We welcome you to join us in some free community engagement programming coming up in the coming months!

FREE COMMUNITY WORKSHOP:
BIOMORPHIC SCULPTURAL FIBER (sign up here)
Saturday, July 30, 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
In this fun and FREE workshop, we welcome folks of all ages to meet Artist in Residence Amanda Triplett, and join us in layering, coiling, cutting and stitching fabric to create biomorphic, sculptural textiles. Participants will experiment with different ways of manipulating and playing with textile scraps through winding, knotting, stitching, and wild experimentation. Drawing inspiration from patterns found in nature, artists will then layer and sew their material experiments together onto fabric on an embroidery hoop. Artists will then use beads and embroidery thread to embellish and finish their work.
