We’re Hiring!!!

A variety of job opportunities are available with the Auburn Parks, Arts and Recreation Department. Some of the featured positions are:

  • Summer Camp Counselors: Looking for counselors to work in the fun filled summer camp programs. Lead and assistant positions are available.
  • Seasonal Park Maintenance Worker: Duties include mowing and weeding; collecting litter; maintaining facilities; and preparing athletic fields.

Other positions include: Track & Field Head Coach & Instructors; Adult Softball Field Supervisor; Facility Assistants; Facility, Field & Gym attendants; Fitness instructors; Front Desk Clerks; Golf Cart Attendants; STEAM Instructors; Recreation Leaders; Teen Center staff; and a variety of volunteer opportunities. Pre-school Drop In program at the Gymnasium at Les Gove Park

Monday, Wednesday, Friday | through June 17
9:30-11am | $2 per child, membership pass also available. Enjoy fun in the gym with riding toys, bikes, balls, climbing toys and more, all while meeting and playing with new friends. No Playground May 30. Parent or care provider must stay with child or children.

Kidz Playtime – Now Open! 

Location:  Auburn Community and Event Center Ages: 2-8 Fee: $10 for 2 hours of care
Do you need a couple of hours to yourself, have an appointment, or want to meet up with a friend and do not have a sitter?  We can help!  Bring your child, ages 2-8 to our drop-in childcare program and we will keep them entertained and safe.  All staff have undergone a National Background Check.  Two hours of care for $10.  Call the Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Office at 253-931-3043 for specific times and days.  Times and days coordinate with fitness classes and may change quarterly.  Staff are unable to change children’s clothing.

Preschool Programs

Farm Tots at the Mary Olson Farm | Thursdays, May 5-26 | Ages 3-5 | 10-11am | $7 per session | Pre-registration required
Bring your little ones to the Mary Olson Farm to learn about nature, history, and farm life while practicing early learning skills. Every week we will explore a different theme with activities including story time, animal encounters, games, crafts, and more! Caregivers must stay with their children during the entirety of the program.

The REC Teen Center 2021

The REC Teen Center 

Auburn's REC Teen Center is located at 910 9th Street SE in Les Gove Park. The REC is open from Monday through Friday from 2pm-5pm. Transportation is provided from the Auburn middle schools and high schools courtesy of the Auburn School District. 

The REC Teen Center offers great fun for grades 6-12 and features:

  • Ping Pong, Foosball, Air Hockey, Teen Lounge & Video Games  
  • A Gymnasium for drop-in basketball
  • Tech Lab for tutoring and homework help. 

Monthly Membership: $15
Daily Drop-in Rate: $1

REC RIDERS

Tuesdays, May 17-June 7 | 3-4:30p | 56586
Learn the skills needed to hit the trail! This 4-week program will give teens the tools to take their riding to the next level using modular systems to develop balance, improve body position, basic bike handling skills and safety, and tackling obstacles safely. Each program culminates with a trail ride. REC Riders is free with admission to the REC Teen Center. Bikes & helmets are provided.
Grades 6-12.

Let's ride! Wheel Kids takes place at Les Gove Park! Little groms will focus on bike safety and riding skills like self-starting, braking, and stopping on the trails in Les Gove Park. AUBURN COMMUNITY GARDENS

The City of Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation department operates two community gardens for lease and use each year. Planting begins April 2. Register by calling 253-931-3043.

  • 8th Street Gardens (1030 8th St NE)
  • Garna Botting Jones Community Garden
         (4th and J Streets NE)
  • Sizes available: 10' x 20' Patches
  • Fee: $55 Auburn resident, $63 Non-resident, price includes $25 refundable cleanup deposit

Youth ages 14 and under are invited to participate in
the FREE 2022 Youth Fishing Derby at Mill Pond Park. The pond will be stocked with trophy size trout for the youth to catch! The free annual fishing derby is sponsored by the
City of Auburn, Auburn Sports & Marine and the
Auburn S.O.F Chapter of the Puget Sound Anglers.

DOG TROT 3K/5K FUN RUN

Saturday, May 21 | 9:30am

Game Farm Park, 3030 R. Street

A family-oriented fun run event that takes place prior to Auburn’s Petpalooza festival. Participants will follow a 3K or 5K route. The course is flat, easy, and enjoyable for all ages and ability levels. Water will be available on the course for both dogs and human participants. The race is ‘chip-timed’ by BuDu Racing, LLC. Registration is currently $25/person and includes a T-Shirt, full-color face bib and a participation medal. A FREE event for pet lovers and a special day for your four-legged family member or other furry friend. Kicked off with the 9:30am Dog Trot, Petpalooza also features animal-related entertainment, hysterical pig races, a petting zoo, pony rides and other children’s activities, pet contests, an agility area, a variety of vendor booths, food vendors, a Beer & Wine Garden, live entertainment and TONS more!
