ART GALLERY EXHIBITIONS
City Hall Gallery 25 W Main Street
Artist: Stephen Cheng Exhibition Dates: through May 3, 2022
Artist Stephen Cheng uses oil on canvas to paint songs, poems, wishes, and memories. The colorful paintings of Somewhere Over the Rainbow carry “the desire of children—and maybe the desire of all people—to escape their surroundings such that their wishes will come true.” When Cheng paints abstracted versions of childlike memories, the intent is for the artwork to resonate with his audiences’ own life experiences, inspiring them to explore their emotions, and substitute his stories with their own.”

Cheryl Sallee Gallery 808 9th St SE
Artist: Mark Jordan Exhibition Dates: through May 4, 2022
Northwest photographer Mark Jordan explores the concept of evoking a mood through compositions of shape and intensity of light. He uses photography as a means to better understand his personal reality --- with choice of subject matter coming from a place of emotional connection. Mark’s end goal is to realize what he sees in his mind’s eye. Using both analog and digital tools, he calls attention to things others may overlook.

Art on Main Gallery One Main Street
Artist: Elena Thomas Exhibition Dates: through April 9, 2022
This site-specific installation, Where the Squares Aren’t, is made up of interlocking wood squares combined with black reflective acrylic and two-way mirrored acrylic. Specific lighting choices are also used to create shadows and reflections. As the piece goes from day to night the shadows and reflections change, offering a changing visual experience. By using reflective material, repetitive shape, and lighting, the work is meant to draw people in and challenge their visual perception. The acrylic sheets also show the reflections of people walking by, adding another layer of public engagement into the work.
