May Kytonen “Yuán Fèn: We Were Fated”
April 12- July 5, 2021

"Yuán Fèn is a word for how fate ties together people and places. Featured on these panels are the “Four Symbols”, who serve as guardians of the cardinal directions. They are each paired with notable constellations and comets from Chinese astronomy."

PERFORMING ARTS RETURN TO AUBURN AVE THEATER

The Auburn Avenue Theater is excited to bring back performing arts beginning in May for some comedy, variety shows, tribute shows and more. Please note, the Theater will be operating under current Healthy Washington: Roadmap to Recovery guidelines.

Mother's Day Arts & Crafts
  • Mother’s Day Arts & Crafts for Kids - Mother’s Day is around the corner and it’s time to make gifts, crafts, and cards to celebrate the moms in our families. Handmade tokens of love, in other words. Check out all of these fun arts and crafts ideas!
  • Easy DIY Marbled Paper – A favorite marbled paper technique for all ages is shaving cream marbling. Follow this simple tutorial and learn how to marble paper with shaving cream and watercolor paint (and include a video showing it in action). This is an all-time favorite art activities for all ages!
  • Frye Families: Jingles and Chimes - Have you heard of upcycling? It's a way to creatively reuse objects such as recyclables and turn it into something new and of a higher quality. Inspired by an artwork from the Frye Art Museum's collection, this video tutorial will teach viewers how to make their own wind chime.

2021-23 Mural Artist Roster

Artists living in Washington State are invited to submit qualifications for the City of Auburn’s Mural Artist Roster. This roster serves as a resource to identify artists most suitable for new artwork commissions as opportunities become available. The roster will be updated every three years and artists currently listed on the roster are invited to reapply.

2021-22 Utility Box Wrap Project

The City of Auburn seeks applications for artworks/designs that can be reproduced as a vinyl wraps and applied to utility boxes throughout Auburn over the next two years. Applicants must live within King or Pierce Counties.

ASO Viva Mexico

A new concert from Auburn Symphony Orchestra celebrates the music of Mexico. Viva México! is the latest concert in the Creatively Connected Orchestra Series. The performance premieres Thursday, May 6 at 7:30 PM at www.auburnsymphony.org and will be available for free streaming through June 6, 2021.
