Veterans Vehicle Procession _ Nov 7

The City of Auburn considers it a great honor to host the 2020 Salute to Veterans Celebration this November, paying tribute to and celebrating our Veterans and those currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Auburn, Washington is designated by the Veterans Day National Committee and the US Department of Veterans Affairs as a Regional Site for the celebration of Veterans Day 2020 and has been hosting a Veterans Celebration since 1965.

While we are unable to offer the traditional parade this year, we are excited to offer a five-day celebration. It will begin with a Veterans Vehicle Procession on Saturday, November 7, feature a variety of video tributes and other special activities, and culminate with a Remembrance Ceremony on Wednesday, November 11.

Here is the schedule of the planned activities for 2020:

Veterans Vehicle Procession 2

Saturday, November 7

Veterans Vehicle Procession
11:00am – 1:00pm | Starting from Veterans Memorial Park

The Veterans Vehicle Procession will feature veterans, active military members, Veteran Service Organizations, historic military vehicles, living history groups, other veteran-related groups and invited guest. Procession participants will be given a flag for their passenger side window that will identify their vehicle as part of the procession, allowing spectators to easily identify them and cheer them on.

Spectators will be watching a vehicle procession, NOT a parade. Vehicles in the procession will be following a pre-determined route, following all traffic signs, traffic lights and rules of the road. Spectators are encouraged to find a socially-distanced sidewalk location along the procession route to cheer on the vehicle procession participants. The route is nearly 3 miles long, allowing room for social distancing. It is imperative that all spectators follow social distancing and mask wearing guidelines along with all other COVID-safety requirements currently in place while viewing the procession.
