On April 1st, the South Burlington City Council approved a resolution adopting a 25 miles per hour (mph) school zone on Dorset Street around the Frederick H. Tuttle Middle School and the South Burlington High School. The new school zone will be similar to other recently established school zones on White Street and Market Street. The Dorset Street School Zone will be in effect from 8:00–9:30 a.m. and 3:00–4:30 p.m. on days when school is in session. During these hours, lights will be flashing which will indicate the 25-mph speed limit is in effect. Outside of the school zone hours, the 35-mph speed limit will be in effect. The new hardware and signage will include radar speed feedback signs which indicate to drivers their current speed. The school zone signage and radar speed feedback signs will remain in place and active at all times. The new signage and hardware will be installed by the Department of Public Works immediately upon delivery, which is expected to be early summer 2024.

Creating an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU)
Thursday, April 18th | 7:00–8:00 p.m.
Community Room in the South Burlington Library
Is it Right for You?
Are you interested in creating housing for your community while gaining an additional income stream? Have you ever heard of an ADU? Not sure you can afford it or where to begin? We’d like to help!
What is an ADU?
An “Accessory Dwelling Unit” or ADU, often referred to as an “in-law apartment,” is a smaller rental unit on the same lot as the main house. ADUs come in many forms: they can be created within the existing envelop of the house (e.g. in an attic or a walkout basement); built as an attached extension; built within or attached to a different existing structure (e.g. above a detached garage); or built as a free-standing structure.

Recycle Your Eclipse Glasses!
Tuesday April 9th through Saturday April 13th
The South Burlington Public Library is partnering with the Chittenden Solid Waste District and Astronomers Without Borders as a drop-off location for used eclipse glasses.
Library April Displays
One of April's displays is a show of Corporeal Art by the Poetry Society of Vermont. These 3-D pieces of objects and verse remind us that words sometimes are enhanced by their surroundings, and vice versa.
“This exhibit came into being as an urge to merge lyric art…creates a fusion which is both greater than the separate entities – object and word – and closer to its point of origin, both within the artist/poet’s being and within the story of humanity and communication.” -Cindy Hill, Curator
This poetry exhibit extends beyond the usual gallery, adorning the walls in and around the Community Room, and filling the 2nd floor display case.
