On Monday, April 8, 2024, South Burlington will experience a once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse. We've compiled some eclipse resources and South Burlington Police Department has provided tips to help you plan ahead and enjoy the day safely.
- Use Waze when traveling, even if you don't need GPS for directions. Vermont cities and towns will be actively updating traffic alerts and road closures in Waze on Monday, April 8.
|
- In case of severe traffic delays, visitors and residents should be prepared with:
- a full tank of gas
- food and water
- warm clothing
- Limit travel if you can, including getting groceries and supplies ahead of time.
- Stay alert when driving and be mindful of emergency vehicles before, during, and after the event.
- Please be patient with others in crowds and traffic!
You can find more information and resources on our website.
Check out NASA's eclipse explorer to find the exact timing of the eclipse at your location. The website can also tell you the beginning and end of totality, the ONLY time it's safe to view the eclipse directly without protective eclipse viewers.
