Hello South Burlington,
On behalf of your entire leadership and staff team, I want to thank you for the support of our Fiscal Year 2025 municipal budget and the water tower bond vote. We look forward to continuing to deliver the core municipal services you expect, investing in additional safety measures around our schools, and funding climate change initiatives in South Burlington.
I also want to take a moment to welcome Elizabeth Fitzgerald, Mike Scanlan, and Laurie Smith to the City Council! It takes a great deal of energy, passion, and courage to run for local elected office not to mention serve on City Council. I want to thank all the candidates for stepping up, and specifically Councilors Fitzgerald, Scanlan, and Smith for committing so much of their time and energy in the years to come to further our shared work for all South Burlington residents.
And last, but certainly not least, a huge thanks to our newly elected City Clerk, Holly Rees, for running a professional and smooth local election and allowing democracy to work in South Burlington. Holly, the entire Clerk’s Office staff, the Board of Civil Authority members, and the election workers, work hard to ensure accurate and efficient elections and do so with a smile! The full elections results are here for your reference.
As always, if you have questions or ideas to share, please feel free to reach out to me at jbaker@southburlingtonvt.gov or at (802) 846-4107.
My best,
Jessie

The City of South Burlington has been awarded $8,094,234 through the Reconnecting Communities & Neighborhoods (RCN) Grant Program for the construction of the East-West Crossing pedestrian-bicycle bridge over Interstate 89 (I-89) at Exit 14. This award closes a critical funding gap, allowing the project to go forward.
The bridge will be bid out this summer, with construction to begin in 2025 and end in 2026. The design is based on a concept developed through a public outreach effort in 2022.
The University of Vermont Health Network has launched a new campaign to challenge everyone to practice small acts of community and celebrate the positive impact every individual can have in making our communities better for all.
Step 1. Read the Pledge
Does it resonate with you? If it does, we invite you to sign it and live it. Perfection isn’t the goal here, we are just committing to try.
Step 2. 10 Small Acts
Over the next two weeks, commit to intentionally finding and doing ten small acts of community. Will ten acts change everything? Maybe…or it might just start a new and wonderful habit.
Visit https://www.actsofcommunity.org/ to learn more or take the challenge. You can download a FREE toolkit filled with ways to help spread the word and order stickers, window clings, and more.
