Donna Kinville Bids Farewell

Thank you

As I approach the last few days before I retire as your city clerk, I wanted to take the time to thank each and everyone of you. Thank you for trusting me to be your city clerk for the past 22 years. Over those years, you have supported me during good and tough times, for which I will be eternally grateful. Every decision I made was with the thought of what was best for the City, but mostly what was best for you.

I have enjoyed being a part of your life, from issuing birth certificates, giving out marriage licenses, seeing our young voters voting for their first time, chatting with you when you visited City Hall, helping find the boundaries of your property, and of course registering your family pet. Yes, even when you are paying your property taxes.

I will miss the interactions that we had at City Hall, but I am not leaving South Burlington, so you will see me around. South Burlington will always be my home.

Payment Options:

We accept cash (recommend you pay in person), check, or credit card (Visa or Mastercard. Transactions are charged an additional 2.8 percent fee along with a 98 cent site fee)

Checks (no cash) may also be placed in the drop box next to the main entrance of City Hall (180 Market Street). Checks should be made out to "City of South Burlington". Please write your parcel identification number, found at the upper left portion of your tax bill, in the memo field of your check.  If payments are made on or before 11:59 PM in our drop box on 8/15/2023 your payment will be considered on time.

If payment is made or mailed after the tax deadline there will be a late penalty fee of 8% and 1% interest charged. The date of your electronic transaction for payment of taxes is NOT a determining factor for on time payments.

In observance of Bennington Battle Day, Public Library, City Hall and Senior Center will be closed on Wednesday, August 16, 2023

Progress Continues on Williston Road

Construction is underway on two new crosswalks on Williston Road – at Pine Tree Terrace/Davis Parkway and between Victory Drive and Mills Avenue. Prior to their construction, the nearest crosswalks were nearly a mile apart.

UVM's "Catamount Woods" to House 540 Students Behind Doubletree by Hilton

The University of Vermont has announced its intention to partner with AAM 15 Management LLC to build undergraduate housing on the east side of its main campus.

“Catamount Woods” will accommodate approximately 540 undergraduate students in apartments near the southern edge of Centennial Woods.

The community is invited to join a celebration of the service of retiring South Burlington City Clerk, Donna Kinville. It is anticipated that quorums of the City Council and various committees will be present but not conducting any official work – other than celebrating Donna!

New Exhibit in the Public Art Gallery

 August 2 – October 19, 2023

Curated by Xandra Ford, who is a student at Essex High School (Class of 2024) and was the South Burlington Public Art Gallery intern in the spring of 2023. The exhibition features the work of four Vermont artists: Liz Hawkes deNiord, Joy Huckins-Noss, Jill Madden, and Julia Purinton.

Hinesburg Road Pump House all Spiffed Up!

We are thrilled to announce the successful restoration of The Hinesburg Road Pump House, which has now been revitalized to its former glory thanks to the creative expertise and dedicated efforts of the designer and painter Jamie Bedard. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Katie O’Brien-Barritt, Trisha Gustafson, and Debbie Brodeur, who also provided invaluable assistance during the painting process. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to them for their meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to excellence that have breathed new life into our facility.

Another Work of Art!

Designer and painter Jamie Bedard has impressively transformed an electrical box on Route 7/Shelburne Rd., located across from Denny’s, into another captivating piece of art.

We've recently been made aware of unsolicited phone calls being made to community members asking for donations to the "Police Officers Support Association." The South Burlington Police Department is not affiliated with this group. Please be wary of groups calling and asking for your sensitive personal or financial information, despite how "trustworthy" the caller may sound, how "professional" their website may look, or how "urgent" the situation may seem.

EV Charging Grant for HOAs and Developers

Are you a developer or member of a homeowners’ association interested in installing electric vehicle charging? Don’t miss your chance to help cover almost all the cost to install EV chargers for the employees of your business, residents of your multi-unit dwelling, or visitors to your public attraction. Visit the Vermont Community Electric Vehicle Chargers Incentive Program website to apply, or tell your homeowners’ association about this opportunity. Funding is limited, so apply today!

SBA Disaster Assistance

In the wake of this summer's historic flooding, the SBA would like to inform the City of South Burlington’s residents about the Physical Damage loans that they have made available through September 12th, as well as the Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) made available through April 15, 2024

Free Passes or Discounted Admission!

Are you looking to entertain family, friends, or guests? The library has a lineup of passes to an array of local attractions that provide free or discounted admission. Any SB adult who holds a library card (free for the asking) can borrow these passes for a day. The passes are there for your use and enjoyment through the Department of Libraries, with some made possible through the South Burlington Library Foundation. SB Nite Out has become one of our most anticipated community events. In its 7th year, friends, family, and neighbors spend evenings in the park, listening to live music and enjoying different cuisines. Held on Thursday evenings, in late-June, July & August, you will find some of the best food trucks and local bands. This year's lineup is sure to be a fun one. Don't miss it! Dates & Bands

Fall Driver's Ed

We are partnering with our longstanding instructor Paul Dudley (Dudley’s Driving Academy) to offer a Driver’s Ed class this fall at SBHS. This class is for teenagers and/or adults who have a current Vermont learner's permit and want to obtain a Vermont driver's license. This course reflects proven techniques for developing good driving skills and habits. The course consists of VIRTUAL and classroom instruction, 6 hours of supervised driving, and 6 hours of observation.

Class will begin August 31st with a remote Parent Night Zoom class from 6:00-8:00pm.
