City Considers LDR Changes - Commercial On-Site Solar Standards
The City is considering amending its Land Development Regulations to require that new buildings subject to the Vermont Commercial Building Energy Standards (CBES) include the installation of solar photovoltaic systems on site.
Proposed Amendments Environmental Protection Standards
The City Council will be holding a second public hearing on a series of adjustments to the Environmental Protection Standards within the Land Development Regulations on May 15th at 7:30 pm.

Safety Telecommunicators Week
 Last week, April 9 -15th was National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, a time to recognize and thank the unsung heroes of public safety.
Everyday thousands of calls are made to police, fire and rescue agencies throughout the country requesting some sort of help or assistance.

Omaha Nebraska
 Last Month Cpl. Williamson and Ofc. Morse traveled to Omaha Nebraska to participate in the 2023 International Association of Women Police Summit. They spent time in several workshops and networking events geared toward the recruitment, retention, and progression of women in policing.
Thanks for representing SBPD Cpl. Williamson and Ofc. Morse and for bringing back the knowledge to help recruit more women to the profession and South Burlington!

 Across the United States, small- to mid-sized housing that’s affordable for middle-income households is in short supply. The Vermont Department of Housing and Community Development is teaming up with AARP Vermont and Vermont Natural Resources Council to launch a photo contest to raise awareness of this “missing middle housing,”
April marks the anniversary of the 1968 passage of the Fair Housing Act, which was intended to put an end to inequities in our housing system, eliminate racial segregation, and guarantee that everyone has a right to obtain a home of their choice, free from discrimination.

City Roads in Springtime
 Weight Limits, Line Striping, Street Sweeping, and Potholes
Now that temperatures are rising and the ground is thawing DPW is shifting out of winter mode and getting ready for our normal spring / summer activities. We’re currently taking equipment (street sweepers, line striping equipment, etc) out of storage and de-winterizing it.
