Meet the City Council and School Board Candidates!
 To help voters make informed choices, the South Burlington High School Debate Team is hosting a public forum in the City Hall Auditorium on the evening of Thursday, February 16th. The City Council forum will be held from 5:00 to 7:00.

If you are looking to have an early ballot for the March 7, 2023 annual town meeting, early voting is happening at the clerk’s office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
 South Burlington Fire Firefighter Battle 2nd Alarm Fire in Spear Meadows Development
On Monday morning February 6th at 06:52 hrs., 911 received a call from a driver on Swift St. of a possible house fire in the Spear Meadows Development. South Burlington fire crew arrived on scene within four minutes and were faced with a heavy volume of coming from the eaves and roof of a newly constructed, one story, bungalow style home, that was nearly completed.
Three New Mixed-Use, Multi-Story Buildings Approved in City Center
 On February 8, the City issued approval for three new buildings in the heart of City Center. These buildings will each be four stories in height and include, in total, 161 new homes and over 22,000 s.f. of ground floor commercial space facing onto Market Street. The developers, Snyder-Braverman, are planning to break ground this winter/spring on construction.

Ordinance Regulating Heat Sources for New Buildings to Take Effect Wednesday, Feb 15th
 Last fall the City Council adopted an Ordinance requiring that the primary heating for all new construction be from renewable or carbon-free sources. The Ordinance, which also regulates hot water in a phased-in-approach, will take effect for all new buildings applying for Building or Zoning permits beginning on February 15, 2023. Submission of a self-certification will be required prior to occupancy of the building. Adoption of the Ordinance was a recommendation of the City’s recently-adopted Climate Action Plan.
