Traffic Alert Message from VTRANS

Burlington Telecom is placing fiber optic cable on telephone poles along Hinesburg Road (VT 116) from Williston Road (US 2) to Old Farm Road. Work is expected to start Wednesday August 3rd, and to continue for a month.

There will be lane closures along this route while they conduct this work. Lane closures will only be between 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Fire Tells A Tail .....

Just when we were pawsitive we had seen it all, a concerned citizen called us for a cat they heard meowing inside their foundation. When Engine 2 arrived on scene, they located the unfurtunate feline within the wall with a thermal imaging camera and Senior Firefighter Hachey exclaimed “You’ve got to be kitten me!”

Traffic Alert - Dorset/Cider Mill Dr

Starting on August 15, 2022 a private contractor will be working in the City’s Dorset Street right-of-way near the entrance to the Cider Mill neighborhood. They will be adding a left turn lane into the neighborhood.

Fire Extinguisher Safety

Fire extinguishers consist of a hand-held cylindrical pressure-vessel, usually made of steel or aluminum, and an agent, which can be discharged to extinguish a fire. There are two main types of fire extinguishers: stored pressure and cartridge-operated. Stored pressure fire extinguishers are the most common type and 

Construction/Road Work Updates

Projects underway, completed or getting ready to begin

• Szymanski Park - Striping and paved July 5th - Needs 30 days to cure.  Lines begin on August 5th
• Dog Park Fence installation at Wheeler Park - began July 25th and will take 3 weeks.

• Site work has started at the Vet Memorial new bathroom site, will continue through fall by various contractors.

SoBu Nite Out Thursday Night Summer Series Started In July

Thursdays in July & August | 5-8 pm | Veterans Memorial Park

Who's ready for another summer of great food and great music? WE ARE!

Cancel your plans on Thursday nights starting July 7th until August 25th and join us at Veterans Memorial Park to indulge in some of the best food trucks in Vermont. We also have some amazing bands playing this year, see the schedule below. Bring the kids, friends, neighbors, and even the dog (on leash please).  Walking or Biking to this event is encouraged.

Dance To Fitness Mondays & Thursdays | Aug. 1-Sept. 15 | 5:30 pm | SB Senior Center
