August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and it’s a great time for individuals and families to review their vaccination needs as we enter a new season. Staying current with recommended vaccines helps protect you, your loved ones, and the community from preventable illnesses. Recommendations can vary based on age, gender, and health history, so checking vaccination status early can help prevent delays later.
If you have questions about which vaccines, you or a family member may need, your healthcare provider or the Prince William Health District can provide clear, trusted information.
Stay up to date. Stay protected.

PWHD is proud to highlight the important work of our Community Health Workers (CHWs), who serve as a vital bridge between residents and the healthcare system.
Here’s what our CHWs shared about their work and impact in the community:
Why They Serve
Our CHWs are motivated by helping people and building meaningful connections in the community. They take pride in guiding residents to reliable resources and accurate health information.
Their Work in Action
Each week involves planning outreach, responding quickly to community needs, and supporting residents during emergencies or outbreaks. Flexibility is key to meeting people where they are.
Making an Impact
From sharing HIV/STI resources in local barbershops to helping families understand vaccine needs, CHWs make a difference through everyday interactions that improve health and reduce misinformation.
Their Message to You
CHWs are here to guide, not judge. Their goal is to help you navigate resources, prevent illness, and stay informed. You are not alone – the information they share may support you or someone you care about.
