UVA’s 2026 Comprehensive Cancer Center Community Grants Impact Grant cycle is now open. This year’s funding will focus on the Impact Grant, a 24-month grant for implementation-ready, evidence-based projects ready to carry out, evaluate, and sustain community-based cancer initiatives.
Up to three Impact Grants of up to $20,000 each will be awarded for 24-month projects, with $10,000 distributed annually over two years. Eligible applicants include registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and municipalities serving residents in the UVA Cancer Center catchment area.

Move2Health Equity will be hosting the inaugural Rural Health Clinic in Fluvanna County on Thursday, August 6 from 2 to 5 PM at the Dunbar School Community Center (2524 Mountain Hill Rd., Palmyra, VA 22963). Students can receive school and/or sports physicals at no cost. Vaccinations for rising 7th and 12th graders will also be available, courtesy of Central Virginia Health Services. If possible, please bring your child's previous vaccination records to help ensure accurate immunization documentation.

Join us at one of BRHD's local health departments for free Rapid REVIVE! Naloxone Training. Each event is free and will provide free naloxone to those who complete the brief training. Rapid in-home HIV test kits, free fentanyl/xylazine/benzodiazepines testing strips, condoms, lock boxes, and medication disposal bags will also be available. These events are open to everyone and occur on a monthly basis. No pre-registration required!

The Charlottesville/Albemarle Health Department (1138 Rose Hill Dr., Charlottesville, VA 22903) is hosting a free sexually transmitted infection (STI) Test & Go event on Tuesday, August 18 from 4:30 to 6 PM (or until capacity is met).
These free walk-in STI testing events are held from 4:30 to 6 PM on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Testing is available for gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, syphilis, and Hepatitis B & C. Free safer sex items are also available. Testing is offered on a first-come, first-served basis with limited capacity. No treatment or exams will be performed at this event. Fluvanna County Public Schools is hosting a Back-to-School Bash for Fluvanna County students and their families at Fluvanna County High School (1918 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy., Palmyra, VA 22963) on Saturday, August 8 from 11 AM to 3 PM. This event will include:
