📢 National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN)
🔆 VDH Published Updates to NHSN Dashboards
-
VDH updated the following NHSN HAI dashboards with 2024 data
🔆 New NHSN Dashboard: Reliability-Adjusted Rankings
-
The Reliability-Adjusted Ranking dashboard is now available to all acute care hospitals as of June 21st. Information about the dashboard can be found on the adjusted ranking metric (ARM) analysis resources webpage.
-
Individual hospitals receive a ranking compared to all other acute care hospitals for the same year.
-
Annual facility-specific reliability-adjusted rankings are based on the ARM.
-
Lower ranking percentile is better. Example: If your ranking is 9, your hospital is doing better than 91% of facilities after accounting for overall exposure.
-
Available for central line-associated bloodstream infections, catheter-associated urinary tract infections, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus laboratory-identified events, C. difficile laboratory-identified events, and surgical site infections following abdominal hysterectomy and colon surgery.
🔆 NHSN Antimicrobial Use (AU) Data Report Now Available
-
The NHSN Antimicrobial Use and Resistance (AUR) and Statistics Teams have published the 2023 AU Option Data Report. This report summarizes the Standardized Antimicrobial Administration Ratio (SAAR) distributions and antimicrobial use within each SAAR antimicrobial agent category among adult, pediatric, and neonatal patient care locations.
-
Additionally, these data are posted on the Antibiotic Resistance & Patient Safety Portal Inpatient Antibiotic Use webpage. The portal highlights national AU Option data for 2023 and allows users to explore and visualize national- and state-level SAAR distributions from 2021-2023.
